I took issue with someone saying 'they guess' when a GM explicitly stated that's not how it worked.
I'm that someone. GMs have explicitly stated things in that past and have been wrong about it.
Just because they state something doesn't mean they actually went digging in the code to verify it. They, like us, often read something enough times to accept it as fact and just restate that when opportunity arises. It's only when the lone person with their mountains of test data stands up to dispute it in those instances that actual verification takes place.
On a side note:
It's suspected that most GMs were once human, and being such are not infallible. Some even admit to it - but that's probably a trick you shouldn't fall for as GMs favorite pastime is toying with humans.

I get what you're saying - they're not infallible. I, too, remember in recent history a GM stated a mechanic worked a specific way then only looked into the code after much grumbling on the boards and finally rescinded their previous statement.
However, you're missing the point. In this instance you implied your stance still had merit (the 'guess' remark) coupled with the fact that your theory of 1005 being CS/TD based can be rejected in literally seconds
In summation, I'm not saying don't ever question GMs but rather in this instance, the experimental design to set up the conditions to reject your claim are so easy I can't see how you could possibly have 'mountains of data' on it to support your claim. Although, as Rhett pointed out, I've been wrong before; it certainly won't be the last time.
>1030, dagger ambushing, unwardable 700's CS's, paladin AS, (insert your personal favorite style of empath here), cant we all just get along?
lulz. I don't think it would be a tough sell to say I've been the biggest exploiter of 1030 in GS history; it needs a nerf. RSN!
Ex: 13% chance to ward with bard CS which is Elemental CS vs Players. All subsequent 1005 casts hit, although not with the best outcome. Interestingly, when I 1005'd a dark elf wizard I put him into a 'deep slumber' almost every time. Investigation pending.

With, 101 spells, I can't even reliably strip spells off of them with SONG OF UNRAVELLING (-50 TD pushdown!!!), and I can still 1005 them to sleep about 90% of the time.
I think the real lesson here is that GWEs have a stupid amount of ETD.

My recollection was that the TD pushdown rounded, so you should be seeing (101/2 == 50.5 ==) -51TD pushdown. Am I mis-remembering?

I know, and I just don't expect to ever hunt them. Which makes this slightly annoying:

Yes. They're just not super common. I've found amber wands myself, but no prism yet.
