You obviously just need to get more of these, then you won't have so many plats burning a hole in your pocket.

Wow, guess I should make it a point to go to auctions again. I quit attending years and years ago, but I could have won almost any of those auction items. I may even start selling skins and looting critters again... oh my.

An increase in the money supply only results in inflation if the velocity of money is assumed to be constant. What everyone agrees on is that the velocity of money in DR is falling, so the creation of money does not lead to inflation since it just sits in HLC bank accounts unspent.
This is exactly like the real world at this point in time. The Fed has created mind-blowing amounts of money in the last 2 years in response to the financial crisis, yet the US is in danger of slipping into deflation. This is because the velocity of money has fallen enormously, with most of the money sitting in bank reserves instead of being loaned out. This is either because banks don't want to lend it out (which is relatively easy to fix), or businesses and consumers don't want to borrow (i.e. Great Depression II).
One way to "fix" such a problem is to increase the monetary velocity while withdrawing liquidity. In other words, we need money sinks for the very rich until the money supply has fallen to an "acceptable" level. The best thing I can think of would be a merchant that can repair any item from the destroyed level of damage for 1000 plat a pop, with the price falling once enough money has left the system. It is mainly the rich that would use such a service, the service is valuable enough to attract their custom, and the demand should be continuous rather than one-time-only.

Mkaes sense.
Money sinks--I like it.
Merchants that could add items to boats (furniture, etc.), or expanded and expensive options for homes (mounted telescopes, etc.) that would cost tens of thousands of plats might siphon off some of the extra coin.

I can foresee this probably being an unpopular decision, but I think level caps on equipment might be a feasible idea depending on how it was worked.

Wow, thats actually worse then the idea to having all creatures give the same loot. I would rather have that then level limits, this isnt world of warcraft.

That idea isn't limited to WoW. In fact GSIV has it.

Because WoW was totally the first game to ever have level or stat requirements for equipment.
DR is nearly unique in not having level or stat requirements to use certain weapons or armor.

True.
Of course, equipment in DR doesn't really grow with the character much either, which is pretty unique.

Shields are about the only items I can think of that actually improve stats with skill.
Would certainly be interesting if more weapons behaved like shields and had ranges of stats depending on your skill. Slice ranges from great to bone-crushing, impact from low to fair, etc.

ick, RPG items with level-scaling stat boosters are something that always peeved me out.
If they were static numeral boosts then fine whatever, but geezus +2% fire resistance while may mean something at level cap it is utterly worthless at level 1 where you're taking 4 damage. Whoever thought percentage boosts in this manner should scale with level too is an utter moron.

You're aware there are percentage boosts in Dragonrealms?

Yes but they don't work in the same manner and I believe I've made posts in the past pointing out a lot of these percentage boosts are part of what breaks the game at increasing skill/level caps.
