An exception has been added to the rule regarding taking items from the bench in TSQ, Landing.
* The taking or use of items left on the town bench, donation bin, or other communal containers is not permitted, though HARDCORE characters are free to donate items. HARDCORE characters may not take or make use of any items or silver found laying on the ground unless generated by the game itself (truffles, smooth stones, etc). One exception to this rule is that HARDCORE characters may take acorns from the Town Square bench (or containers on/near it) should the need arise.

What about the Reach? As far as I know that task is impossible for small characters without outside assistance, while I have sat around in TSC and waited until an acorn fell to do the acorn task, I've never got a gnome up the Reach without some form of outside assistance.

The Reach: The Ta'Vaalor Voln HQ has an entire different set of tasks ... you could go there instead!

Ok, all kinds of stuff to answer here. Feel free to be selective about response:
1) For the Symbol of Dreams (rank 24)? That task? Good grief! Someone's already to rank 24?!?! What am I missing?
2) For the steps? Or for the cab? Or for the bridge?
3) I don't believe there's a height requirement for the bridge operation (strength?), but if I'm wrong - @Evarin - I believe this should be a freebie and included with the acorn exception verbiage (and see 6 below). You don't have to go all the way up and back down through the tunnels at this point, so any of us could assist another.
4) I don't believe there's height requirements for the steps.
5) I would be surprised if there's a height check for the dam operation. There might, however, be a strength check of some type. That cloudy blue potion. . .
6) While we're laughing about this, let's not forget that other humorous activity that requires another Voln member's presence. ;)

Bridge (if I remember right), once past that I've done the other two with gnomes.

I'm assuming that the couple of tasks that absolutely require others to participate are covered. Death is allowed if required, so I am assuming everything else is too. And while I am not up the Reach yet, I have acquired the favor to ACT on this assumption. ;)

A number of rules have either been added or further clarified.
HARDCORE characters may reroll prior to dying and keep their current name should they wish to do so. Aftering rerolling, new level, race, and profession information should be conveyed via updating the wiki or in a message board post in the appropriate thread.
Should a HARDCORE character receive outside spells from another player, they may dispel themselves using any available means to include an alternate account, fellow HARDCORE characters, or non-HARDCORE characters.
Items and silver may not be obtained from other characters. This means nothing may be received from another character or player shop, including character-to-character sales. All silver and inventory must be earned by the HARDCORE character. NPC shop purchases are permitted. Items the HARDCORE character obtained from a merchant, including raffles and merchant services, are permitted. Use of the pawnshop is allowed. However, no attempts should be made to knowingly buy or sell items to purposefully supply HARDCORE characters.
GemStone IV Prime HARDCORE characters shall at a minimum toggle on the ability to view their level in their profiles. It is recommended that the Strongest Foe toggle also be set, as well as any other appplicable toggles such as Warcamps, Lock, Trap, Guild, and Society.
Participation in Societies, to include tasks requiring the direct involvement of other characters is permitted, as is the use of both HARDCORE and Non-HARDCORE characters to complete said tasks. MAing the required participants is not permitted, nor is use of non-HARDCORE characters to make certain tasks easier, such as razing warcamps.
Also, it is important to remember that should your HARDCORE character die, you MUST either delete said character or reroll into a different name. Keeping the same name upon death creates a number of complications that are best avoided.

PRO TIP: If you get spelled up from someone being helpful...remember that a bard can dispell you BY THE SPELL, so you don't have to re-cast your own spells.

I think the point was that if some random passerby is throwing spells around, you may get splattered unintentionally.
And finding another player to REMOVE spells is entirely appropriate (and explicitly granted in the second new rule paragraph in #205).
The pro tip is to use a Bard to Unravel only the specific spells that should go away... and NOT also the ones struck randomly by Dispel, which you spent your own mana/scroll skills & charges on.

Please be advised of two rule changes already reflected in the wiki:
Locksmithing - HARDCORE characters are permitted to open the boxes of other HARDCORE characters. The HARDCORE locksmith may not accept rewards for their efforts beyond the experience gained. Scarabs and trap components are considered the property of the locksmith. As mentioned elsewhere, HARDCORE locksmiths may also offer their services to non-HARDCORE clients as well.
Group Hunting - In order to promote group hunting, the restrictions on aiding your fellow competitors has been modified to allow the use of the following (Self-cast or item cast) spells: Stun Relief (108), Undisease (113), Unpoison (114), Spirit Guide (130), Calm (201), Untrammel (209), Minor Sanctuary (213), Major Sanctuary (220), Breeze (612), Celerity (506) [Group effect only], Traveler's Song (1020), Troubadour's Rally (1040), Adrenal Surge (1107), and Soothing Word (1202). In addition, it is permitted to drag your hunting partner to safety, or to execute them if there is risk of your partner(s) dying in battle (Deaths from CvC do not count towards elimination). Note that this list is in addition to the other spells allowed during group hunting, not in replacement thereof.

The Prime HARDCORE wiki page has been updated with a "Last Observed Active" column. All active competitors have been marked last observed active on 23 December 2017 by default. In one month's time, a mark ([I]) will be added to the names of all competitors who have not been seen in the lands since December 23rd. This mark will simply serve as a reference to current HARDCORE competitors that a fellow member may no longer be in active competition. At this time, no other meaning will be ascribed to this mark of inactivity.
Competitors are of course welcome to update their status to reflect their current level of activity, or report to me via various means (The PC, EO, The Officials, via Lnet to Sulikfor, etc) and I shall gladly do it for you.

Following a discussion on the HARDCORE discord, group hunting rules have been changed.
PREVIOUS: When hunting with other HARDCORE characters, all members of the party should be able to gain experience from at least one of the creatures in the given area. Any member of the party may skin the corpse or loot the creature regardless of whether or not they landed the killing blow. However, loot may not be shared. Whoever performs skinning will keep the skin, and whoever loots the corpse keeps all resulting treasure. Silver/Loot may not be shared at any point once gained. Alternate taking turns skinning and/or looting should you wish to divide the spoils.
Current: When hunting with other HARDCORE characters, all members of the party should be able to gain experience from at least one of the creatures in the given area. Any member of the party may skin the corpse or loot the creature regardless of whether or not they landed the killing blow. Loot earned solely throughout the hunt may be shared amongst the party as desired within a reasonable period of time during or following the hunt. All members of the hunting party must be active participants in order to receive loot.
These changes were made in order to encourage group hunting amongst your fellow HARDCORE members, and make sharing of loot less burdensome. If anyone has concerns or suggestions, this is the forum to voice them.
