I would've chosen this song for Empaths, since this is largely the common situation I've historically found myself in as a healing empath looking for patients at a healing spot (which were all pretty busy when I hung out there). I forget who sings this song, though.

It's one of my favorite Beach Boys songs, and this particular rendition is neat in that you can really see what an dastardly insane genius Brian Wilson is and how complicated his songs are once you scratch the pop-sounding surface.

IMO this is the best anti-nuclear war song ever written - because its an incredible poem, and the music works so well with it.

This is not the original Nena version (which is 1984 big hair/makeup pop)

This is by Goldfinger (whom I never heard of - i have it on my BB and thoughts it was NOFX - why dont people label songs correctly!!!?)

originally i thought the red balloons were a metaphore for missiles. i just realized this is a song not only anti-nuke war, but i think its about nuclear war started by accident. i thought the kids in the toy store were defense department types shopping for weapons.

i think its about some kids releasing 99 balloons and the "other side" mistaking them for missiles ("Back at base bugs in the software...Flash the message, something's out there")

Wow, the more i read it the more there is to it. this poem is so well written it could appear in a lit class (i.e. Opens up one eager eye = missile silo)

God I love this song.

And yes, in the original German the song is about 99 ballons being released and a general thinking they are enemy craft and starting a war. It is a comentary on trigger happen military.

A Les Miserables fan. I had the pleasure of seeing it in London. I think it's done now but at the time (93-94) It was the longest running show in the world.

Speaking of Stars (Javeret's suicide song) pops into my head at the strangest times.

Cute verbs and speaking from hiding are excellent ways to catch a lightning bolt in the face regardless of mystical ninja abilities.
