Bin the Alchemist's Trial 02/04/2013 03:53 AM CST
Anyone who can place this? I have zero idea.

Thurgan exclaims, "That is an OUTRAGE!"

Thurgan taps the tip of his wooden staff on the ground.

You see Thurgan Shem'laur the Elf Tribune.
He appears to be in his 50's, has thinning white hair, multihued eyes, and fair skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a simple wooden staff in his right hand.
He is wearing a pair of large round spectacles, an ivory scroll case, a gold-banded white silk robe, some bone white leather sandals, and a pure-white veniom-bound satchel.

Sassee nods.

Larkindal glances at Thurgan.

Sassee says, "not only that"

> look bin
It is your typical Bin.
It is in good shape.
It has nothing at this time.

(Bin whines.)

Sassee says, "but he charged some people one price, and others quite a bit more"

Sassee works her fingers under her sticky spiderweb and scratches her head.

Sayrena stands up.

Galileia rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Crawtuck says, "A moment please Sassee."

Sassee fidgets.

Sassee nods.

Sassee blushes a lovely shade of bright pink.

Sassee glances at an ancient spidersilk scroll edged with diamonds and rubies.

Sassee rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Crawtuck says, "Thurgan, I would ask that you keep your head about you in this hearing."

Thurgan bows to Crawtuck.

You see Crawtuck Luartah the Elf Adjudicator.
He appears to be in his 210's, has very long dark brown hair, green eyes, and fair skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a polished wooden cane in his right hand.
He is wearing a pair of silver-rimmed spectacles, a bright red sash, some dark brown trousers, a white cotton tunic, some black leather boots, and a billowing black cloak.

Thurgan says, "I apologize, my Lord."

Crawtuck says, "Sensible objections are one thing, outbursts however will not be tolerated."

Larkindal clasps his hand over his mouth.

>Larkindal smirks.

Crawtuck says, "This goes for you too Larkindal."

Sassee shifts her weight.

You see Larkindal Gramboyd the Human Praetor.
He appears to be in his 60's, has receding black hair, dark eyes, and tanned skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a rohnuru potion in his right hand.
He is wearing a gold-trimmed black silk cape, an elegant split-sleeved shirt, some crisp black wool trousers, and some polished cobra skin boots.

Sassee blushes and babbles a few incoherent words, looking sincerely flustered.

Sassee wrings her hands.

The town constable glances at Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "Please Sassee, continue."

Sassee nods to Crawtuck.

Sassee smiles.

Crawtuck nods to Sassee.

Sassee rubs her chin thoughtfully.

Sassee says, "now where was I"

Sassee works her fingers under her sticky spiderweb and scratches her head.

Sassee says, "ah yes"

Sassee says, "There are witness who will claim that Bin has been diluting his potions over time"

Sassee says, "making them less effectual than in the past"

Sassee says, "this is not only on enchanting potions"

The town constable appears to be waiting for something.

A heckler yells, "Off with Bin's head!"

Sassee says, "but also on imbedding potions"

Thurgan scowls.

Sassee begins pouting.

Sassee glances at alchemist Bin.

The town constable steps closer to Bin.

Sassee says, "The more I sought evidence against Bin"

(Bin slouches low in his seat.)

Sassee says, "the more perplexing it became"

The town constable scans the crowd and nods at one of the deputies.

Sassee says, "a conspiracy I tell you is amuck"

Sassee nods to Crawtuck.

Sassee says, "I believe Bin has been helping the Krolvin, and Sansil can attest to the facts he came up with while we investigated this matter"

>look san
You see Sansil O'coin the Dark Elf.
He appears to be in his 70's, has thinning silver hair, dark eyes, and dark skin.
He has a coiled gold dragon tattoo on his arm, a symbol of Koar tattoo on his neck, and a lightning bolt tattoo on his forearm.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing an ebony-lined white velvet hood edged with spidery runes of holy warding, some elven leathers, a crystal amulet, a skull-clasped grimy leather backpack, a gold ring, a golden tower shield embossed with a peach bezant on a vert field, a long stark white spidersilk cloak depicting an archmage in deep concentration, a stark white leather thigh-sheath emblazoned with the golden symbol of Koar, a white pooka mask, a dreamstone Academy scroll pin, a grinning skull pin, some pure white veniom-trimmed trousers, some low-cut white leather boots, a perfect white daisy, a gold-trimmed white weapons harness, a sunburst etched silver flask, a white Koar symbol, and a golden Koar medallion.

Sassee says, "Bin is guilty of the charges"

Thurgan scowls.

Thurgan exclaims, "I object!"

Sassee says, "though he may not be the only guilty one"

Thurgan taps the tip of his wooden staff on the ground.

whisper xana what are the exact charges? You whisper quietly to Xanator.

Crawtuck glances at Thurgan.

Sassee fidgets.

Crawtuck asks, "On what grounds do you object?"

A heckler yells, "Hang em high!"

Thurgan says, "She is not qualified to determine Bin's guilt or innocence."

Sassee gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

Xanator whispers, "Well, they're wandering a bit, this trial is only on theft by deception. Not a conspiracy."

The town constable glances nervously around the room.

Sassee wrings her hands.

The town constable looks over towards Delir and nods.
Larkindal asks, "May I speak to the objection, my lord?"

Thurgan scowls.

Crawtuck says, "As this is a hearing for whether or not there is any guilt or innocence, I believe that her comments will stand on the record."

Delir escorts the heckler from the room.

Thurgan bows to Crawtuck.

Sassee grins ear-to-ear.

Crawtuck says, "Yes Larkindal, you may."

Larkindal stands up.

Larkindal says, "as my lord has so quickly seen, Lady Sassee has been called as an expert and informed witness in this matter. It speaks to the very heart of the matter what her opinion of Bin's guilt or innocence is."

Larkindal nods.

Sassee blushes and babbles a few incoherent words, looking sincerely flustered.

Sassee nods to Larkindal.

Larkindal smiles at Sassee.

Crawtuck nods.

Larkindal bows to Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "Opinions are what we are looking at here, so you are quite correct Larkindal."

Crawtuck asks, "So, unless there are any further objections?"

Crawtuck glances at Thurgan.

Thurgan says, "No, there are none further."

Thurgan scowls.

Crawtuck says, "You may proceed Sassee."

(Thurgan whispers to Bin.)

Sassee curtsies.

(Bin splutters at the comments.)

(Thurgan whispers to Bin, flailing his arms as he speaks.)

Thurgan flails his arms about.

Sassee says, "I don't have much more to say.....the witnesses are scattered around the lands but will attest at a trial that he sold them faulty potions"

Larkindal tilts his rohnuru potion side to side, making the light play off it.

Crawtuck nods.

Sassee asks, "Did you have any questions for me your honor?"

The Archon whispers to Larkindal, on rules of evidence.

Sassee smiles at Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "No."

Sassee curtsies.

Sassee strides over to stand before Sansil.

Having finished addressing the assembly Sassee sits back down.

Larkindal nods to Zanere.

Larkindal offers Zanere a rohnuru potion.

Larkindal mutters exhibit-a.

l zanere
You see Archon Zanere Lenion the Human.
He appears to be in his 160's, has long, braided white hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a silver inlaid spiraled fel staff in his right hand.
He is wearing a pair of horn rimmed spectacles, an inscribed blackened horn case, some tanned leather breeches, a short suede rune-worked robe, and some cuffed high leather boots.

Crawtuck asks, "Tribune, who is your first speaker?"

Thurgan leans on his staff.

Thurgan stands up.

Thurgan says, "Thank you, My Lord."

Thurgan bows to Crawtuck.

Thurgan says, "Bin calls...The Legendary Saberwolv Balevics.. Arise and be heard."

Thurgan says, "Wizard, Extrodinare."

Thurgan bows to Saberwolv.

Saberwolv stands up.

Saberwolv stands up to address the assembly.

Crawtuck nods to Saberwolv.

Saberwolv moves to stand in front of Crawtuck.

Saberwolv bows to Crawtuck.

Saberwolv says, "Sire"

Saberwolv stands in front of alchemist Bin.

Saberwolv bows to the Bin.

Saberwolv says, "Good sir"

Mnar came through a double door.

Saberwolv says, "Your honor...ah intend to show that Bin is not connected with selling faulty potions"

Saberwolv shakes his head.

Saberwolv removes an ancient moon-crested tome from in his wizard's cloak.

Saberwolv just opened an ancient moon-crested tome.

Saberwolv carefully flips to the next page of his moon-crested tome.

Saberwolv carefully flips to the next page of his moon-crested tome.

Saberwolv gently traces his finger across a page in his moon-crested tome as he studies it intently.

Saberwolv says, "Ah personally have poured several successful enchanting potions"

Saberwolv says, "Includin ones which were deemed....tainted"

Saberwolv rolls his eyes.

Saberwolv says, "Before th' alleged accusations of these....potions being tampered, wizards were still failing to use them"

Saberwolv says, "Ah believe many attempt to blame their failure on their lack of ability"

Saberwolv says, "For...if ah kin use a supposed tainted potion.....there is no grounds in which it is tainted"

Saberwolv moves to stand in front of Sassee.

Saberwolv says, "If I may, your honor, refute th' testimony of Sassee"

Saberwolv turns to face Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "That is your right."

Crawtuck nods.

Saberwolv says, "The accuser wishes to label Lady Sassee as an expert witness"

Saberwolv scowls at Sassee.

Saberwolv says, "yet....ah have never in mah days seen a sorceress enchant"

Thurgan nods to Saberwolv.

Saberwolv says, "She is not qualified to constitute as an expert witness on any grounds of enchanting"

Saberwolv waves his hand in a dismissive gesture.

Saberwolv carefully flips to the next page of his moon-crested tome.

Saberwolv gently traces his finger across a page in his moon-crested tome as he studies it intently.

(Bin sits up.)

Saberwolv says, "As far as grot'kel potions are concerned..."

(Thurgan whisper something to Bin, smiling as he leans back in his chair.)

Saberwolv says, "Ah successfully used one this morning"

Saberwolv nods to Crawtuck.

Saberwolv says, "Ah would ask th' assembly take into consideration the fact ah have used both alleged tainted potions"

Thurgan smiles at the Bin.

Saberwolv says, "As for Lady Sassee's testimony on a conspiracy..."

Saberwolv coughs.

Saberwolv says, "with your permission sire, ah would like to interject it is not relevant"

Saberwolv says, "We are nay speakin of Krolvins....nor mayers...but of our beloved Alchemist"

The town constable moves toward Arkans and Ariond and says, "Please take your argument out of the assembley room!"

(Bin smiles.)

Saberwolv says, "Sassee may attempt to drag his name through th' mud by alleging a conspiracy with mercenaries....but it simply has no relevance in th' sale of potions"

Saberwolv says, "Lastly...ah would ask one thing of ye, sire"

Saberwolv nods to Crawtuck.

Crawtuck glances at Saberwolv.

Saberwolv says, "Please keep in mind th' makeup of th' Praetor and th' Tribune"

Crawtuck frowns.

Crawtuck says, "Please explain that comment Saberwolv."

Saberwolv says, "Three very well respected enchanters stand before you.....as the ones most hurt by the lack of potions..."

Saberwolv says, "In defense of Bin"

Saberwolv says, "The fact wizards were most injured by this trial..."

Saberwolv sighs.

Saberwolv shakes his head.

Saberwolv says, "it says much we are willing to stand by him"

Saberwolv says, "Thank you for your time, sire"

Saberwolv bows to Crawtuck.

Crawtuck nods.

Saberwolv just closed an ancient moon-crested tome.

Having finished addressing the assembly Saberwolv sits back down.

Crawtuck asks, "Praetor, who is your next speaker?"

Larkindal stands up.

Larkindal says, "Since it is not the purpose of this hearing to re-examine witnesses, we will move on to call our next speaker"

Larkindal nods to Crawtuck.

Larkindal says, "Lord Sansil, please share with us your wisdom, as an investigator and a mage"

Larkindal nods to Sansil.

Crawtuck says, "Please stand and be recognized Sansil."

Sansil stands up to address the assembly.

Sansil nods.

Sansil says, "As ye wish milords"

Sansil gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

Sansil bows to Crawtuck.

Sansil bows to Thurgan.

Sansil glances at alchemist Bin.

Sansil bows.

Sansil says, "Milords"

Sansil says, "My dealins with this case was to investigate the connection with bin and the krolvins"

Sansil says, "I was tasked by Mensher to do such"

Sansil coughs.

Sansil says, "Excuse me I am a bit tired"

Larkindal smiles encouragingly.

Larkindal nods to Sansil.

Sansil grins slowly.

Sansil says, "I have come across many rumors"

Sansil says, "and some facts"

Sansil says, "I will not go on an restate what has been said by Sassee"

Sansil says, "But say what I have learned"

Sansil glances at Saberwolv.

Sansil says, "And for those who nae know"

(Bin shudders.)

Sansil says, "I am a wizard"

The town constable looks over towards alchemist Bin and nods.

Sansil says, "I have come across certain folks who have said they have seen Bin in the mines where the warfares frequent"

(Thurgan nods to Bin and whispers something back.)

Sansil says, "One such lad said he saw him there at night with a bag......Lookin around as if scared"

Sansil glances at alchemist Bin.

Sansil says, "Another story told to me"

Sansil says, "As of late"

Sansil says, "Day before last"

Sansil says, "He was seen again"

Sansil says, "But lost when the person followed him through a gap"

Sansil says, "Simply disappeared they said"

Sansil says, "I wish to ask this question"

Sansil asks, "How could he be in two places as once?"

Sansil says, "Unless somehow he was released"

Sansil glances at the town constable.

Sansil says, "I have much more to investigate, but that tis all I have as of now"

Sansil bows to Crawtuck.

Thurgan rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Crawtuck says, "A moment please."

Thurgan says, "Your Honour.."

Thurgan says, "May I ask a question of this ..."

Thurgan glances at Sansil.

Thurgan asks, "Wizard?"

Sansil nods.

Thurgan stands up.

Sansil taps a long stark white spidersilk cloak depicting an archmage in deep concentration.

Crawtuck says, "In a moment Thurgan."

Sansil says, "That I be"

Thurgan nods.

Crawtuck says, "I wish to clarify a point."

Crawtuck asks, "Constable...Has Bin been in your...keeping?"

The town constable looks over towards Crawtuck and nods.

The town constable says, "He has indeed."

Crawtuck says, "Has he possibly escaped at all while you were not looking? Not to imply you have been lax in your duties of course."

Crawtuck glances at the town constable.

The town constable says, "I take meals with him thrice a day, and keep company with him between. My deputies are there when I am not."

The town constable says, "There is little room for him to sneak away."

Crawtuck nods to the town constable.

The town constable says, "Sir."

The town constable looks over towards Crawtuck and nods.

Crawtuck says, "Thank you m'lord constable."

Crawtuck asks, "Thurgan, you wish to ask a question of this speaker?"

Thurgan nods to Crawtuck.

Thurgan says, "Yes, Sir.. I do indeed."

Crawtuck says, "Please do so, but keep it brief."

Thurgan paces back and forth.

Thurgan moves to stand in front of Sansil.

Thurgan asks, "Sansil.. Have you had any trouble with Lord Bin's enchanting potions?"

Sansil glances at Thurgan.

Sansil grins slowly.

Sansil says, "I was hoping ye would ask this"

Crawtuck adjusts his spectacles and leans forward.

Thurgan says, "A simple yes or no will suffice."

Sansil says, "No I have not cept for my own lack of abilities"

Sansil nods to Thurgan.

Thurgan nods to Sansil.

Thurgan says, "Of course.."

Thurgan says, "Your LACK! of ABILITIES!.."

Thurgan says, "I have nothing further."

Larkindal exclaims, "objection!"

Sansil glances at Thurgan.

Thurgan says, "Thank you your honour."

Sansil laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement.

Crawtuck says, "Thank you Sansil. You may be seated."

Larkindal says, "Demeaning to the witness and argumentative, I ask that the last portion of testimony be disregarded"

>Crawtuck says, "Nay Larkindal, since it bears on this hearing I will let it stand."

Larkindal frowns.

Larkindal says, "yes, my lord"

Crawtuck says, "However, I do strongly caution the Tribune to keep his emotions in check."

Thurgan says, "Yes, Sire."

Thurgan bows to Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "It would be very bad for his client if Bin had to seek representation elsewhere because his Tribune was removed from the court."

Crawtuck glances at Thurgan.

(Bin wimpers.)

Crawtuck asks, "Praetor, who is your next speaker?"

Larkindal coughs.

Larkindal says, "my lord, I do believe it is the Tribune's turn to call a speaker"

Larkindal smiles.

Thurgan stands up.

Crawtuck says, "Ah...quite right."

Thurgan leans on his staff.

Crawtuck says, "The Tribune's outburst left me a bit flustered."

Crawtuck glances at Thurgan.

Crawtuck asks, "Tribune, who is your next speaker?"

The Archon nods to Crawtuck.

Thurgan says, "I am calling, yet another Legendary Wizard.. My lord, Dionket D'Altur."

You see Dionket D'altur the Elf Mage.
He appears to be in his 110's, has shoulder length, wavy silver hair, blue eyes, and fair skin.
He has some minor cuts and bruises on his right leg, minor cuts and bruises on his chest, minor cuts and bruises on his back, and minor bruises on his neck.
He has several painful-looking scars across his chest.
He is wearing a gold ring, a golden phoenix pin, a black braided leather belt, a dark elven cloak, a laced silver sapphire bracelet, a veniom-threaded sack, a bat-shaped onyx pin, a brilliant white tabard, a silver etched sapphire earring, some black vruul skin boots adorned with small pooka chains, some soft dark leather trousers, some soft grey thrak hide gloves, a dark Voln ring, and some dark kraken-scale armor traced with veins of silver.

Thurgan says, "Come forward, Legendary Wizard."

Thurgan bows to Dionket.

Crawtuck says, "Dionket, please stand and be recognized."

Dionket stands up to address the assembly.

Dionket says, "M'lord Adjudicator."

Dionket bows to Crawtuck.

Dionket bows to Thurgan.

Dionket bows to Larkindal.

Dionket smiles gently at Lord Bin.

Dionket says, "An it please the court, I would address those assembled on behalf of Tribune Thurgan for Lord Bin Salatin."

Dionket says, "M'lord, I may not be known as the land's most prolific enchanter. In truth, I am very selective as to what I lay my hand to in furtherance of the art of wizardry."

Dionket says, "I can truly say, however, that I am very careful in my selection, recording and completion of any duties that I may take on."

The town constable cranes his neck and looks toward the back of the room where a small knot of noisy spectators has gathered.

Dionket says, "I have over the course of the last 6 moons attempted some 48 enchants of various difficulties. During these last 6 moons, I have kept careful track of when my attempts to use which potions varied since even before they began to fail for the land's wizards."

Dionket rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Dionket says, "I realize that the court is not accepting anything presented into evidentiary holdings at this time."

Dionket says, "I can however assure you, M'lord Adjudicator that I have amassed sufficient data to prove that the date of the potion's purchase, the type of potion and the enchanter's true skill has no impact on recent events."

Dionket says, "I further support this information by stating here, before those assembled, that I have freely used potions acquired from before and after the event."

Dionket paces back and forth.

Dionket turns to face Crawtuck.

Dionket exclaims, "In one particular case, I even used a mirtokh potion that I had purchased from Lord Salatin when I was first invited to sip from the cups of Hearthstone's private bar!"

Dionket says, "Some 20 moons past, M'lord."

Dionket says, "These potions, old and new alike, show no discernable difference in their qualities. What the Praetor is asking us to accept is that this effort by Lord Salatin spans years, and has all been carefully timed to culminate within this time period."

Dionket glances at Larkindal.

Larkindal peers quizzically at Dionket.

Dionket says, "M'lord Adjudicator, you've already heard some testimony about wizards newer to the art than I."

Dionket says, "They claim little unforseen difficulties with the potions, even those 'suspected' of being tainted, M'lord Adjudicator."

Dionket says, "In fact, some of our lesser know wizards have been quite pleased with their results, despite the claims from those who hold themselves as more learned that enchanting is now impossible."

Dionket smiles gently.

Dionket says, "M'lord Adjudicator, I pray you understand the import of my words. Old potions from years past, or new potion from the last moon, this supposed effort of Lord Salatin is truly nothing more than an attempt to find a scapegoat."

Dionket rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Dionket says, "Or perhaps it is more serious. Grave investigation must continue. . . but the freedom of the noted Alchemist should not be a question -- most certainly when he is also the strongest among us to discover what truly is affecting the potions."

Dionket blushes a lovely shade of bright pink.

Dionket says, "While I recognize I am close to my time for speaking, M'lord Adjudicator, I would also enter information into the record concerning the Lady Sassee's most poignant though terribly erroneous information concerning bribes and hidden items."

Dionket turns around.

Dionket glances at alchemist Bin.

Dionket says, "M'lord Adjudicator, it is with a heavy heart that I must admit that Lord Bin Salatin will not sell ALL wares to ALL customers. There are a great many who would injure themselves by not knowing which end of the wand to wave."

Dionket smiles gently.

Thurgan nods to Dionket.

Dionket says, "However, I must also advise you, M'lord Adjudicator, that EACH of the noble merchants of this town likewise will not sell just any of their items to just any purchaser. Trust must be gained, and repeat business is frequently seen as one measure of building that trust."

Thurgan nods to Dionket.

Dionket says, "Also, I find it very interesting that the Lady Sassee would even start to discuss variances in prices. There is not a set price anywhere in the lands, as no doubt you know, M'lord Adjudicator."

Dionket says, "The reasons are myriad and justified. Each merchant has his own levels of profit, patience and expense. Each purchaser has her own level of skill and understanding of the ingredients, need for profit and availability of coinage."

Dionket says, "And finally, M'lord Adjudicator, I must ask, very pointedly -- IF one merchant may be held over and tried concerning 'weaknesses' beyond his control, where is Lord Tykel. There are a great many blades which do not have the strength nor the ability to hold magics as well as they did when I first walked the lands."

Dionket says, "There is much confusion. In our haste to set aright the commerce of this wonderous town, let us not consider commonplace as the rope from which to dangle a scapegoat who has only the misfortune of being one of the kindest and greatest of merchants our lands knows."

Dionket smiles gently at Lord Bin.

Dionket says, "And let us indeed seek out the reasoning behind these odd failures. Their impact is felt realm wide. Almost worthy of a Ta'NalFein effort, weakening our ability to support and improve. Let us return Lord Salatin to his efforts, and humbly beg his assistance."

Dionket says, "For in no other way will the truth of this matter come to the fore."

Thurgan nods to Dionket.

Dionket turns to face Crawtuck.

Dionket says, "I would now address the inclusion of rumors into these proceedings, M'lord Adjudicator, though I am nearly out of time."

(Dionket pauses meaningfully, the silence stressing his true feelings about rumors being presented as determinants to so important an issue.)

Dionket says, "I feel that should sufficiently answer the groundless tripe that has been presented to this point, M'lord Adjudicator, and I thank you sincerely for your patience."

Thurgan smiles at Dionket.

Dionket says, "I stand ready to present dates, times, difficulties, pours, potion times, and any other request that may be made of me, in furtherance of gaining Lord Salatin his freedom. And others, with like information, will follow."

Dionket smiles gently.

Dionket bows to Crawtuck.

Dionket bows to Thurgan.

Dionket bows to Larkindal.

Larkindal nods to Dionket.

Crawtuck says, "Very well."

Crawtuck says, "You may be seated Dionket."

Having finished addressing the assembly Dionket sits back down.

Crawtuck asks, "Praetor, who is your next speaker?"

Larkindal stands up.

Thurgan nods to the Bin.

Larkindal says, "I am sure my lord, and the court, is aware of the old adage, "there is no smoke without a fire""

Larkindal smiles.

(Thurgan whispers to Bin excitedly.)

Larkindal says, "as was so aptly demonstrated by the citizens of this town when they were so moved by firsthand experience with Bin's treachery that they set his shop afire in protest not so long ago"

Larkindal nods to the Bin.

Larkindal says, "I have no further witnesses, though I do stand prepared to call many more to account for their knowledge of Bin and his potions when this matter moves to trial"

Thurgan says, "I object.. Hooligans.. Thieves.. Robbers, all banded together to do that horrible crime."

Larkindal says, "I would however, like to close with some words out of the Tribune's witnesses' mouth..."

Larkindal coughs.

Crawtuck says, "Hold your tongue Thurgan."

Crawtuck says, "Proceed Larkindal."

Larkindal nods to Crawtuck.

Larkindal says, "this matter, as Dionket so astutely pointed out.."

Larkindal says, "requires further grave investigation, and is not closed and shut, by far"

Larkindal says, "I request that you remand us to a trial, my lord"

Larkindal bows to Crawtuck.

Thurgan leans on his staff.

Thurgan stands up.

Dionket comes back into focus.

Crawtuck nods.

Crawtuck asks, "Thurgan, have you more witnesses to speak?"

Thurgan paces back and forth.

Thurgan says, "Your Honour.."

Thurgan says, "I was going to rest my case.."

Thurgan says, "However.."

Thurgan says, "I have one more brief witness.."

Thurgan says, "Who will put to rest.."

Thurgan says, "any further investigation you will need."

Thurgan says, "Would the High Lady, Kismia Karam...please step forward and be recognized."

Kismia stands up.

Crawtuck says, "Stand and be recognized Kismia."

You see Kismia Karam the Dark Elf Enchantress.
She appears to be in her 130's, has unkempt, long golden blond hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin.
She has a delicate wild orchid tattoo on her ankle.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a violet riftstone amulet, an elven mage cloak cut of fine royal purple velvet detailed with shimmering golden runes, a gold-lined silk satchel, a majestic purple silk coat, a bas relief gold medal, a golden phoenix pin, a gold ring, a deep purple violet, a sparkling black mein key, a sheer white billowing poet's shirt, a deep purple pouch embroidered with gold thread, a small purple velvet pouch, some form-fitted jeweled brocade riding pants, and some purple gold-tasseled boots.

Kismia stands up to address the assembly.

Kismia smiles regally.

Kismia curtsies to Crawtuck.

Kismia says, "M'lord."

Kismia says, "I am but a simple magess of Voln and the House of Phoenix who has had dealings with this man for years."

Kismia points at alchemist Bin.

Kismia says, "I will be brief."

Crawtuck nods to Kismia.

Kismia says, "I come before you this evening to stand in defense of Bin who, over many years, has displayed nothing but impeccable character."

(Bin smiles warmly.)

Kismia says, "I've dealt with Bin a very long time and found him always to have merchandise of the highest quality.."

Thurgan nods to Kismia.

Kismia says, "Even if at times I did feel his prices were a bit steep."

The town constable leans forward and listens carefully to Kismia.

Kismia says, "That is..."

Kismia says, "Until I visited the alchemist in Ta'Illistim, and I came to appreciate and miss Bin's fair trading all the more."

Thurgan nods to Kismia.

Kismia says, "I might add that only in Ta'Illistim are amulets of invisibility sold now.."

Kismia says, "Rather suspicious, if you ask me."

Thurgan nods to Kismia.

Kismia asks, "'Certain folk' have seen Bin consorting with Krolvin? Who? Who are these anonymous accusers?"

Larkindal coughs.

Larkindal says, "if I may interject.."

Kismia says, "I personally do subscribe to.."

Kismia glances at Larkindal.

Crawtuck nods to Larkindal.

Crawtuck says, "Please wait a moment Kismia."

Crawtuck says, "Go ahead Larkindal."

Larkindal says, "the Tribune and his witnesses have tried to bad mouth my own speakers by saying that we are bringing unfounded conspiracy into the matter.."

Larkindal asks, "but what, I may ask you, are they doing by casting aspersions at the elves of the Elven Nations?"

Larkindal glances at Kismia.

Larkindal says, "that is all"

Larkindal nods.

The town constable glances at Larkindal.

Kismia rolls her eyes.

Kismia says, "That may well be for another time."

Kismia nods.

The Archon makes some notes.

Crawtuck says, "Your comments are so noted in the record."

Larkindal says, "thank you"

Kismia says, "But as I was about to add.."

Crawtuck says, "Please continue Kismia."

Kismia says, "I personally do subscribe to a conspiracy theory."

Kismia says, "But."

Kismia says, "I do not believe our beloved alchemist to be a willing participant."

Thurgan nods to Kismia.

Kismia says, "I must also add one more bit of personal experience regarding the potions."

Kismia says, "I had sisfu potions in my possession at the time that Bin was arrested."

Kismia says, "Potions purchased on Teras Isle."

Kismia says, "Those potions proved to be tainted and never were a part of Bin's stock to my knowledge."

Thurgan leans on his staff.

Kismia says, "Other potions in the cabinet stock of the Phoenix Wizard's circle."

Kismia says, "Also proved to be contaminated."

Kismia says, "Those that weren't stolen."

Crawtuck stares at the town constable.

Larkindal asks, "Just to be perfectly clear, you did find evidence of contaminated potions?"

Kismia scowls.

Larkindal peers quizzically at Kismia.

Kismia says, "I believe that along with the conspiracy notions are matters for another day, m'lord, but aye, I do believe them spoiled."

Larkindal leans back.

Kismia says, "In conclusion.."

Kismia says, "I ask that you free Bin."

Kismia curtsies.

Having finished addressing the assembly Kismia sits back down.

Crawtuck asks, "Thurgan? Anything to add?"

Thurgan says, "Your Honour.. I rest my case.. However.. in closing, I want to point out.. that I have brought to you not one, but three legendary wizards, all have confirmed that it's not the potions, but the enchanters. Please.. give this some thought while you weigh the statements."

Thurgan bows to Crawtuck.

Crawtuck nods.

Crawtuck says, "Very well. We will recess this hearing for five minutes and I shall leave to ponder upon it. Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves or outloud if you wish this case but please keep yourselves under control until I return."

Saberwolv lightly drums his fingers over the surface of his moon-crested tome, seemingly lost in thought.

(Bin is startled awake by the sudden noise.)

=== Insert lots of moving, speaking, and reciting here ===

Crawtuck just arrived.

Saberwolv put an ancient moon-crested tome in his wizard's cloak.

The town constable rocks unprepossedly back and forth, his arms crossed on his chest.

Perigourd smiles at Crawtuck.

Crawtuck exclaims, "Silence!"

Crawtuck calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.

Alchemist Bin says, "I never changed da formula on me potions."

Crawtuck stands up to address the assembly.

Crawtuck says, "While I have formed my own opinions on this case...I think it only proper that the townsfolk who have gathered here have a bit of a say in whether or not we continue with a trial at a later date, or whether they think Bin should be set free."

Crawtuck says, "Humor an old elf. I wish to hear your thoughts in a simple manner."

Crawtuck says, "Hold on now..."

Crawtuck says, "We'll do this in a simple manor."

Crawtuck says, "I will open the floor...And I do not with to hear anything spoken from you all."

Crawtuck says, "Hmm...strike that."

Crawtuck says, "You all have given me a great idea."

Crawtuck smiles.

Crawtuck says, "By hand count I suppose then."

"Order!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Methais bangs the gavel violently in a display of anger, having lost his patience! Hey, he could hit you with that thing!

Xulia stares at the town constable.

The Archon whispers to Crawtuck.

Dionket says, "I would see it go to trial as well, M'lord Adjudicator, but your question was an exclusive. If there were a suspect worthy of trying, I would see it done. I would move for freeing Bin and investigating further until satisfied."

The constable leans over and whispers something to Bin.

Larkindal exclaims, "though a majority may feel at this point that Bin should be freed, it is not a simple majority that is needed in a case like this!"

Sergey exclaims, "Larkindal i heard a rumor from a lass 5 towns away you conspire with Reivers!"

Larkindal says, "Enough doubt was expressed that the case must go forward to trial."

(Bin begins chanting, "Free Bin! Free Bin!)

(Bin snickers.)

Saberwolv says, "Bin...regardless of how this turns out...ah hold ye in high respects. Ah appreciate yer work...and know we have done all we can to repay ye"

=== Oh yes...massive amounts of movement and stupidity. ===

Crawtuck says, "Alright."

Crawtuck says, "Everyone take your seats."

Crawtuck calls the assembly to order. After a moment the crowd quiets down.

Crawtuck stands up to address the assembly.

Crawtuck says, "After careful deliberation of all the arguments presented in this case, I have found myself at a point that I had wished I wasn't. All the speakers have presented a sound case. All the speakers have proved to me that they are upstanding citizens of this town and would have nothing to gain by providing false testimony."

Crawtuck says, "This leaves me with only the words of you good people before me."

Crawtuck says, "Bin Saladin, I hereby find the following....."

The town constable glances at Lord Crawtuck.

Crawtuck says, "While the facts presented here have leaned more towards your defense than otherwise, I feel that we need to investigate this matter further."

The town constable glances at Lord Crawtuck.

The town constable asks, "And what does that mean?"

Crawtuck says, "Mentions of pacts and alliances with the evil beings of our great land are nothing to ignore."

The Archon nods and makes several notes.

(Bin whines.)

The constable leans over and whispers something to Bin.

Crawtuck says, "However, if I can have your word that you can return here at a later date where we will REQUIRE evidence from both sides be presented, not just words and accusations, I shall release you into your own custody until said date."

Crawtuck says, "This matter requires a full trial. The matter will not rest in the hearts of these good people gathered here today until it has done so."

Crawtuck says, "So."

Crawtuck asks, "Do I have your word sir?"

Crawtuck glances at Bin.

The town constable glances at Bin.

Bin says, "Thank you m'Lord Adjudicator. Ya has me word."

Alchemist Bin bows to Crawtuck.

The deputies make a path through the pressing crowds, and the constable hurries Bin out of the Assembly Hall.

Crawtuck says, "Very well. I must remind you that should you fail to report on any issue regarding this case, your guilt will be affirmed."

Crawtuck says, "And may the gods have mercy on you should that come to pass."

Crawtuck says, "This hearing is dismissed."

(Bin whimpers.)

The Alchemist gets burned! 3/29/01

The Alchemist's shop in the Landing has burned down! Here are the events as reported by Scarbarough on the message boards...

Early, early this morning (I got in about 5 am PDT) there were a group of people rallying in Landing against a supposed conspiracy among the landing merchants, with Bin (alchemist) and Tykel being mentioned most often. The story seemed to be that they have been overcharging us and splitting the extra profits to a group of Krolvin who were somehow getting into town to meet with the merchants.

After rousing the rabble for a while, a group got together and decided to go confront Bin, whose door slammed shut shortly after we got there. There was much challenging, name calling and torch and rope waving. Then we started seeing smoke and flames from inside the house, along with much crashing and banging about. The constable arrived and demanded to know what was going on, and confronted the mob about their actions and accusations of a respected merchant. After some crowd (mob) members saying that they'd seen Krolvin about town, and had noticed Krolvin traces in Bin's shops, the constable allowed that his guards might have missed a Krolvin or two, especially with the mass of tunnels under the town. One note I found interesting, he said that he would have fired Sleepy long ago, but he was a relative (I believe he said that Sleepy was his wife's brother) Finally, a group of burly men broke the door down, and we rushed in (OK, it was more of an amble, but rush sounds better) and confronted the lowly merchant.

His house was a shambles, with shattered bottles strewn about and strange liquids dripping down the walls. The terrified merchant was carried off by a posse after hollow protestations of his innocence. The constable hung around for a bit longer, questioning those there, and finally said he'd best be off to question Bin more closely. After that, we couldn't find a trace of Bin, and the constable was unresponsive to our queries...

Personally, I believe that the constable is in on the scam, and either is hiding Bin to help him escape justice or he allowed the Krolvin to steal Bin from the jail cell...I prefer to believe the latter, as that would be a wonderful fate for the traitor.

I've cut and pasted the new appearence of the shop into the full story...but go and see the shop! You can still go inside, it's just slightly charred.

Haxley, reporting from the Landing.
Upon examination by yours truly, this is what I found in the shop:

[Alchemist's House, Shop]
The burnt-out front part of what had been the alchemist's house apparently served as his shop before its present state of detruction was visited upon it. Here Bin Salatin once sold runepapers, potions, powders and other arcane concoctions, but now all lies in ruins! A smashed glass display case is now filled with shattered shards and half-dried stains instead of wondrous potions. You notice a heavy steel door, now bent and twisted, lying to one side. You also see a smashed-up table and a burned and splintered counter.
Obvious exits: out.

And through the door...

[Alchemist's House, Laboratory]
This was the laboratory of Bin Salatin, the Landing's foremost alchemist. The stench of smoke, brimstone and sting of ozone hang heavy in the air. A cracked alembic lays on the floor among the smashed remains of a table. Shattered and broken equipment are scattered about the room. It appears the alchemist won't be doing any experiments here any time soon. You also see a pile of ashes.
Obvious exits: out.

Do these events hint at something more sinister? Only time will tell...

What do you mean by 'place this'?

Moot hall. Bin arrested. Date of the snippet below was likely in May or June, I think.

Roughly speaking, "around the time of the Bregandian invasion." Bin's (then-emptied, because he'd been on trial...) tent over on the East Side was where the book to read for knowledge of the re-released Weapon Fire/915 spell was located.

More in line with Krakii's response, Doug. I didn't know what the log was a storyline, implementation, update, or some kind of explanation for a shop facelift. The second post I found and added put it in better context, but it seemed to be a random log when I found it initially.

Thanks a lot Krakii. Been hard at work putting up pedia's!

Love the work you're doing, Geijon.

Robert - are you sure? For some reason, I'm pretty well convinced to the contrary, but I got nuttin' (in terms of proof).

W.L. Alchemist Reopens Last Updated: 4/2/2004
Due to the work of High Magus Shyesa and some local residents, the Alchemist Shop off of Vesitsa Place in Wehnimer's Landing - formally owned and run by Alchemist Bin - is once again reopened and under the care of the Erithi Archmage Krylonna. Previous patrons to the shop are welcomed back, and new patrons are always welcomed.

Appreciate it Doug. I'm not actually posting anything that requires a ton of deep work. I'm doing the Banaltra, more CoL stuff, and the Squidwar as larger projects. Those will be more official.

I'm dropping a lot of good bits of info on Krakii though and if I'm finding crazy obscure stuff like this Bin log. Imagine what else I'm finding :)

Well, the snippets posted say that he was on trial in '01 and the tent re-opened in '04. (That sounds about right for Simu-Speed, neh? :)

I'm pretty sure the Bregandian war was along-about the late 2000-to-2001-ish time frame.

Indeed. But for whatever reason, I was thinking that the Bin effort was tied to some substantial changes to ENCHANT.

I seem to recall a bunch of dialog about 'old versus new' enchant potions, etc. '04 time frame aligns too, if I recall properly.

I think you're right about the time frame for the Bregs, too. I just didn't relate them the way you did.

Always interesting to recollect and then compare to logs and such. :)

Here is an announcement proceeding the Bin log and it's date.

7/26/2001 Hearing to Decide Bin's Fate
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Those who wish to bear witness to Adjudicator Crawtuck's court hearing draw near and be seen! Bin Saladin, the Alchemist of Wehnimer's Landing has been accused of the misrepresentation and sale of damaged goods. Come see and participate in the hearing to determine whether Bin should be brought to trial!

At Moot Hall in the assembly room on Volnes, day 30 of the month Koaratos in the year 5101 at precisely 21:00 by the elven time standard, the Adjudicator will hear arguments for the people by Praetor Larkindal, Tribune Thurgan will speak in defense of Bin, and an Archon may be appointed if needed.

You sure about those numbers Krakii? I started playing in October of 1998. As I sit here recalling, the Bregandian invasion ended very shortly before I began playing. I would have put the Bregandian PC/NPC deal at around early spring to summer of 1998. It's one of the reason I began playing, because hearing from friends I played D&D with talking about the war. I'd place the 2000-2001 time frame as maybe more like the Banaltra event with the Fethidmore and such. Two to three years after I began playing, and still pre-GS4.

Nope, not sure at all, Galenok. (Thanks for the actual info, Geijon!)

It was pretty much all in "that murky period right around then" so far as my recollection ran. :)

Have to agree with that. It's one of the main reasons I started trying to solve all those questions and started digging this stuff up. It made no sense to me that we could only guess, sometimes as much as -3 / +5 years on stuff.
