This is something that I think detracts from the quest. It becomes less quest and more self-defense. I would much prefer wandering mobs to the instant spawn of 10 who all attack right away. Standard hunting grown spawn mechanism would probably make it a lot easier to enjoy the questing aspects.
I did personally enjoy the chance for a challenging fight, and to release a ton of undead, but it did make it difficult to try to search things out.
