Is it Air or Water for the cold version?

Let us pretend that my reading comprehension works just fine. Since I quoted the wiki let us also pretend that I know where to find information. Now this might be the hard part for some. At some point air lore was discussed for the other version for this spell. I am completely ok with it being water. I just want to make sure. Your helpful (not really) answer is not what I am looking for.

When was air ever mentioned, and what sense would air = ice bursting from the ground make to begin with?

Why? Are you perhaps a bit envious of my 65 GTO Hurst pistol grip shifter pen with real live tri-power 389 vibration?
Wait. . . what did you think it was, again? No, no. Nevermind.
