A starting wizard can do 1 or the other for their own:
PREP & CAST at a basic weapon. This gives the weapon a +15 AS boost.
OR
PREP & EVOKE. This imbues the caster with a boost to their weapon base bonus for the weapon in hand. Only gives +10 AS (10 bonus weapon ranks).
Would it be possible to make them both apply +15? I understand that the bonus for EVOKE can apply to any weapon you're swinging, it doesn't increase the weapon's AS, but the caster's weapon skill bonus. It just seems odd to get +10 for a self cast vs +15 on a basic weapon for a starting mage.
I don't see what a +5 AS boost to EVOKE would do to upset the balance of things, even to a capped mage that completely maxed EL:E & owned up to a good bit of EL:E enhancive items. Allowing the spell to function the same for casting 902 at a basic weapon or EVOKE the spell just seems logical. Clearly the EVOKE aspect is self-cast only, so no one but the caster would get the benefit.
