Wizardly Resolutions? 01/04/2009 11:08 AM CST
Does anyone have any interesting resolutions for the new year for GemStone?

I'm thinking that 2009 might be the year of Role Play. To craft and attempt to execute a character concept that focuses greatly on role play and less on mechanics. I'm pretty excited.

(2008, in contrast, was the year of I Want to Play With Planar Shift. I largely stopped playing my main Wizard character and I leveled a Sorcerer to 40 with only vague character definition planned ahead of time. It was fun...ish.)

I resolve to complain about familiar bonding once a week until it is implemented!

Leave it to Belnia to take something fun and make it unfun as soon as possible. :(

My goal is the opposite of Naos's, because I've played this bloody game for too many years, rerolled too many characters (I re-rolled my old cleric 9 times. NINE! Nixxi has been rerolled at least 3 times), and given up on too many more.

2009 goals:
1) Stick with Nixxi.
2) Get her to level 20. I was level 20 once before, with a wizard, but it was so brief and so long ago that I don't think it even counts. Remember when level DID equate age? It was before that change. Dhe'nar were a quirky bunch most people hadn't heard of, and trading items on FWI (it was actually FWI, too) was a big "no no".

So.
Titled Nixxi.
2009.

The party is going to be huge, and you're all invited.

1: I will stay on top of my enchanting projects and complete a cast within 6 hours of the temper finishing.

2: I will always remember to put my armor back on before hunting

3: I will not accidentally mix up 525 and 425 in town square this year.

4: I will give more charity spell ups

No it wasn't. :-)

It's FWI now. It was Frostacres then.

No Wizardly resolutions. Maybe the one about actually doing enchanting projects on time.

I just wanna have fun! And the best way to do it is as a wizard.

Oh. I also wanna be on top of the GoS list. But that's a GoS resolution.

It's actually Mist Harbor now, not FWI.

Actually, it's the town of Mist Harbor on Four Winds Isle. Since there is little more than the vineyard and festival site outside of town it is all the same as far as where our characters could visit.

I have two more (very long) term wizardly goals:

- Enchant my own rune staff, then have it altered.
- Forge a perfect sword (still haven't decided which, but it shall be wielded with two hands!) and enchant it with potions I've brewed*, then alter it. Possibly add flares.

You may say obsessive,
I say quality control :)

* Assuming, of course, I'm able to brew the necessary potions. Given the time span I'm talking, this is up for debate :-P

Hunt a little. Alchemize a little. Maybe hit 90 by the end of the year? Continue being more awesome than Rimalon? Sounds like a plan.

Rimalon doesn't have a custom spell prep. That's for sure!

Finally play a wizard. I've got her to 5. So far I've had alot of fun playing her. She's a little winedotter gnome who will hopefully find a nice Lady to serve under soon. Wish her luck.

So what you're saying is that having Rimalon around is like having a local taco bell!?

I wish I were logging yesterday. He died, I mentioned, at the dais, 'I sensed the death of the fop.' A few people were there. They knew who I meant. And there was much rejoicing.

Enchant the perfect vultite lance someone gave me to 7xs.

I hate 7xs projects. I REALLY hate them due to the time factor.

Big resolution:

Go through all the lockers/mules and have a bard sing to every weapon/armor so I know what the heck it is and then have an auction.

Yeah right...

Mine thus far:

Hit level 25 so I can enchant all the random invasion weapons I've collected over the years.

Stop wasting time trying to do foraging bounties. Even trained in survival I need open rolls to find most things :(

Maybe I'll even train in alchemy. I've collected every alchemy component I've found, and all I have done is gotten the free first ranks in everything.

I hope ye dropped ye training in that skill, it is a ridiculously paltry advantage to foraging.

As for the alchemy, you probably will not need a single alchemy drop until rank 40, or so, in General Alchemy. Up until then, all ye need to do is forage (GET A RANGER!) for the herbs and everything else can be bought at the store or the guild, depending on the ingredient. Trinkets and Potions I believe may start to need some crystals before rank 10 or 20. I honestly do not remember when they are needed yet.
