Weighting/Padding/Sighting Updates 09/24/2017 12:08 AM CDT
A few updates for the W/P/S system are now live.

- W/P/S scale values between breakpoints will now provide a % chance equal to the progress towards the next breakpoint to increase the combat effectiveness to the next value.
This increase will also very slightly increase the difficulty of Enchanting or Ensorcelling WPS items by adding the same percentage of the next rank penalty to the difficulty.

<<ex. 25 points of weighting will now be 2pts of combat effectiveness with a 5/10 (50%) chance to provide a combat effectiveness of 3pts.

- Warrior Assess has been enhanced to now provide some detailed information on W/P/S as a OOC note after the normal assess messaging. This will include scale points, points needed to the next breakpoint, % chance to 'rank up', the service count and service window time left if present.

<<ex. [A mithril handaxe has a combat effectiveness rating of 4 points of Damage weighting and a 50.0% chance to have a combat effectiveness rating of 5. It has 5 of 10 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness. It also has a combat effectiveness rating of 10 points of Critical weighting and a 76.6% chance to have a combat effectiveness rating of 11. It has 23 of 30 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness. It has been serviced 10 times in this service window, which resets in 2d 21h 40m.]

- The AI crystal, weapon identifying sheaths, and other items that detect item properties should now be identifying the new WPS properties.

Great update! Looks amazing!

Checking out the sledgehammer, it looks like it is masterfully weighted to inflict more critical blows than a normal weapon of its type.

[A dark runic lor-hafted sledgehammer has a combat effectiveness rating of 20 points of Critical weighting. It has 0 of 100 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness.]

Checking out the hoolurge, it looks like it is very heavily weighted to inflict more critical blows than a normal weapon of its type.

[A sharpened kelyn hoolurge topped with an intricately etched spike has a combat effectiveness rating of 10 points of Critical weighting and a 66.6% chance to have a combat effectiveness rating of 11. It has 20 of 30 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness. It has been serviced 20 times in this service window, which resets in 34d 20h 30m.]

>>ex. 25 points of weighting will now be 2pts of combat effectiveness with a 5/10 (50%) chance to provide a combat effectiveness of 3pts.

Are you saying that this percentage chance is affecting the weapon at time of attack, (i.e. 50% of the time it COULD provide 3pts of combat effectiveness?) or do you mean that it's just "50% of the way to its goal to get to 3pts"?

That is what this line says here.

>> - W/P/S scale values between breakpoints will now provide a % chance equal to the progress towards the next breakpoint to increase the combat effectiveness to the next value.

So using your example with 25 services of weighting, ~50% of the time when you swing you will have 2 points of weighting and the other half of the time you will have 3 points of weighting.

Please please please please be a result of copy/paste removing whitespace, and NOT be a result onebighugemongousrunonsentenceofoutputin-game...

.

And if it IS one hugemongous runon sentence in-game... would you consider whitespacing?

I don't insist on breaking the "services toward" sentences to their own lines, since they link conceptually to the amount of effectiveness (more-damage links to the damage weighting, more-crit links to the crit weighting), but neither would I squawk if it DID turn into a (potential) total of five lines.

Lastly: if you can not-do the "it has" and "it also has" construction, and instead arrive at a constant use of the same wording to build the sentences, the string highlighting will be easier.
As an alternative, do away with the wordy writing out of a sentence, and go with a 'mana' style table layout.

thank you for getting the updates in, I love the detail and finally know the actual padding level of my armor.

for temporary W/P/S items, is it intended that the services message shows at the end of the assess messaging? If we cannot enchant temporary, should we be able to add services?

You assess the leather for structural weaknesses and strengths.
Careful examination indicates the full leather has a base strength of 20 and a base durability of 285. You also determine the current integrity of the full leather to be at 100.0%.
Examining the leather closely, it looks like it is temporarily very heavily padded against critical blows.
[Some thick full leather has a combat effectiveness rating of 12 points of Critical padding. It has 0 of 30 services towards the next full rank of combat effectiveness.]

And a great big "Thank You!" for terminology clarity!
(i.e. using 'points' for the actual weighting/padding value, and 'services' for the work done.)

bump on this inquiry, has this been updated?

You cannot currently add services to a temporarily weighted/padded item. That line could be hidden, but it is one of the details that gives the services scale amount on the item.

so you're saying that temp W/P/S can be found with in between CER? if not, then I don't think the 2nd sentence adds anything in terms of needed information, and is confusing in that people might think they can put services on/enchant it.

I have found or assessed a few fresh treasure items that are temporary weighted/padded and also are in between (show having some services).

If intended, this just seems to have some chance (depending on the service reading) to include the next CER point on an attack or hit, rather than signifying an active service project.
