Not a warior but thought this might be place to ask.

On a troll I found an "imflass edged mithril whip-blade". On another I found an "invar tipped estok".

Does these additions of better metal do anything to the defense or offence properties and if so, what. Like for instance does the invar tip improve pierce attack but not anything else?
