Looking to retrain him to clean up these waisted pts. I could use any advice to make him as good as I can. He is COL, and well I have started reading about warriors again, but a lot is over my head having been gone so long.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You date back to GS3, then? You can play with your stats for 30 days. You can change them 5x during that period, but only by checking into an Inn. As for training/best stat placement, I'll let others with more warrior experience chime in. I do think that you are trying to do too much with weapons though. THW and TWC? Edged AND blunt? Plus shield? Brawling too? Ambush? Not to mention traps and locks. Sheesh!

OK I'd suggest: forget trading for now; forget S&H, you are NOT a rogue. Drop the locksmithing, drop blunts and or brawling. If you use TWC or THW, drop the shield. Dodge is not bad, you can keep that. Bump up the CM, and for god's sake, get at least 1x in MOC. ambush is ok for aiming attacks; you can hold onto that if you want.

You are trying to do too much.

Just for laughs, here is my young warrior. This isn't necessarily the best skill path, but it works for her

The only reason for brawling and shield is that she is in Voln; she uses an empty hand and a shield when fighting undead with Voln-fu. If she weren't in Voln, I'd drop the brawling and shield.

1. Pick a weapon type. Train to maximum on it. Its 2x per level. My guess is you are 26th? That is 52 ranks. Since you are in CoL I'm not sure you need brawling. If you use two-handed weapons you don't need two weapon combat and if you have edged weapons you don't need blunt.

2. Max combat maneuvers. If you are 26th, that is 52 ranks.

3. Ambush to 24 ranks. It allows open Aim. Drop stalking and hiding. You aren't a rogue.

4. Shield use and Armor. 2x IF you use an edged or blunt weapon. If you go two-handers train armor 2x to 140 ranks or fit in 3x as needed. Most Warriors wear plate around 55ish.

5. Picking locks? You have bash from the Warrior Guild. Keeping Disarm Traps is fine, but only if you don't consistantly blow yourself up. When disarming pick in private and away from people.

6. Trading? Expendable.

7. Physical Fitness. Warriors require 2x as it's a primary redux stat.

8. Dodging. 1.5-2x is the consensus especially if you use a two-handed weapon. If you use a shield and edged/blunt go 1-1.5x

Your training should look more like this if you are 26th:

Two Weapon Combat: 54
Edged Weapons: 54

OR

Two-handed weapons: 54

combat maneuvers: 54
Armor use: 54
ambush: 20-24 ranks
Physical Fitness: 54
Dodging: 26-54
Disarm traps: 32-54
Perception: 32-54
Climbing: 10 (Stop)
Swimming: 10 (Stop)

After this then you can fill in gaps. Swimming and Climbing don't need to resume until you are about 35-40. You want 45 swimming ranks eventually for Nelemar which is 90+ and 25+ for a few swimming areas then 45 for areas such as Minotaurs around 64th level.

My math is all over. 26x2=52, but I say 54 in the training breakdown. You get the idea though.
