New Treasure: Collectibles! 07/03/2018 10:28 PM CDT
A new treasure sub-system has been released: Collectibles!

Creatures will now drop a new type of treasure! This treasure is exclusive to treasure chests and can be sold at the pawnshop like any other treasure. However, they may also be collected and redeemed for special rewards at the new collectibles shops located in each town. The collectibles shops will also store these collectible items for you, so you don't have to use up valuable inventory and/or locker space while working towards completing a set.

The COLLECT verb can be used to keep track of what collectibles you have DEPOSITed at a collectibles shop. The previous functionality of COLLECT to collect seawater and blood for sorcery has been moved to the HARVEST verb. You can view the currently released collectible sets with COLLECT ALL (there are 35 at the time of release) and your progress towards a particular set with COLLECT SET [#]. If you are not sure if an item that you have is a collectible, you may use COLLECT EXAMINE to check if the item is collectible. Finally, COLLECT ACHIEVEMENTS lists the currently collectible achievements and your progress towards earning them.

The new collectibles shops are located:
Wehnimer's - North Ring Road
Icemule - Commerce Burrow
Solhaven - South Market
Teras - Golvern Steet
River's Rest - River Road
Zul Logoth - Ruby Tunnel
Illistim - Moonglae Var
Vaalor - Rubicaene Wey
Mist Harbor - Wisteria Crossing
Cysaegir - Treetop Platform

Neat, and thank you for Collect Examine. Trying to remember the whole list would be un-fun.

The one in landing has no npc's, containers, etc. I was hoping to peruse the Valuable Prizes I can get for saving the whales. Is there any way to, or do we have to get the set to find out what the prize is for that set (if they're set-specific even...)

Or are the rewards the achievement tiers?

This seems super cute. I might have a collections issue IRL, too...

Any chance we can find some way to allow people who hunt the Confluence to get in on this?

The Ta'Vaalor shop is in a small limestone building, one south of the locksmith. It's just called "Collectibles Shop", and also seems to not have any NPCs or containers. Are these active yet?

The collectibles shops don't buy or sell anything (if you want to sell the collectibles for silver, take them to the pawn/gem shop instead). What you do is bring any found collectibles to the shop and then DEPOSIT them. The shop then holds on to them for you (lieu of taking up locker/inventory space) until you either WITHDRAW the collectible or REDEEM a completed set.

Ah ha! That makes sense then, thank you.

It might be a good idea to have a clerk there to explain the verbs, cause those are none of the ones I tried ^^;

I'm not voting against a clerk to explain stuff, but there wasn't any guess the verb happening in this specific instance. The announcement post had the DEPOSIT verb disclosed in the first sentence of the second paragraph. WITHDRAW makes natural sense for removing an item, following standard bank style commands.

Thank you for not making obscure verbs!

Just want to double check if this system is definitely live!

I ran through 50-60-ish Sanctum boxes last night and didn't find anything. Not that I expect to find rares or ultra-rares in one night, but no commons either surprised me a bit.

"Not that I expect to find rares or ultra-rares in one night, but no commons either surprised me a bit." -- Leafiara

For our convenience, all of the commons are going to be 'black' items, uncommons are 'silver', rares will all be 'gold', and the mythic rares will be 'red', somehow.
Chase items will only happen every 144th (one gross) box.

Now that COLLECT no longer has sorcerer functionalities, could it be changed to not knock us out of hiding? I'd like to be able to peruse the list of my collectibles from the safety of the shadows.

Numberphile did a video in April about the probability of getting a full collection of 682 World Cup soccer stickers. If you like that sort of math, you can apply it to the new Elanthian collectibles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKPkQCys86c

To apply it to Elanthian collectibles, you have to assume that each collectible has the same probability of being generated by the treasure system and that you only need one of each collectible. Even though those assumptions are invalid for Elanthian collectibles, it is still a useful way to think about the collecting process.

To summarize the conclusions of the video, you will complete your collection much more quickly by trading collectibles with other players.

The only math from the video that I will attempt is the "lonely collector" scenario, which assumes no trading with other players. Under that scenario, you would need to find 482 collectibles to be expected to complete a full set of 94, which ignores that fact that you need multiples of some collectibles for complete sets.

Can we have an indicator in COLLECT ALL or COLLECT SET (#) to show each collectible's rarity?
Until now I assumed all of the collectibles in a single set are the same rarity as each other, but apparently that isn't always true since...

>collect set 29
Your progress on set #29 (Spirits of Life) is as follows:
[71] an ornate Aeia statuette (1/1)
[76] an ornate Jaston statuette (1/1)
[77] an ornate Kuon statuette (1/1)
[74] an ornate Meyno statuette (1/1)
[80] an ornate Niima statuette (1/1)
>redeem 29
You make your request to the attendant, who nods to you, and says, "Very well, Leafiara. I shall redeem the Spirits of Life set for you."

And the problem with that is I traded a Kuon for an Aeia and I have no way to know if it was fair (uncommon for uncommon), unfair to the other person (uncommon for rare), or unfair to me (rare for uncommon). So I can't keep trading in the future to complete sets.

Whichever is the rare in that set can't be all that rare, because I've completed it too (and its the only deity set I've completed).

There's been at least one bug in the deity sets thats led to changes in which deity counts to which set since release, and it wouldn't surprise me if this was another one.

However if there are supposed to be mixed types in a set, there does need to be a way to identify which is which.

I just redeemed set 31 which is an uncommon set, and all the pieces are uncommon. (The wiki has the wrong listing of pieces for this set, its one that has changed since release).

>coll set 31
Your progress on set #31 (Spirits of Companionship) is as follows:
[78] an ornate Laethe statuette (0/1)
[82] an ornate Tilamaire statuette (0/1)
[83] an ornate Voaris statuette (0/1)
[85] an ornate Khaarne statuette (1/1)

>It might be a good idea to have a clerk there to explain the verbs, cause those are none of the ones I tried

I've put up signs with instructions in each collectibles shop to help people out with the syntax.

>Now that COLLECT no longer has sorcerer functionalities, could it be changed to not knock us out of hiding? I'd like to be able to peruse the list of my collectibles from the safety of the shadows.

Done.

>Until now I assumed all of the collectibles in a single set are the same rarity as each other, but apparently that isn't always true since...

There can be collectibles of different rarities within a set. I've add output of the rarity level of a given collectible to COLLECT EXAMINE.

>that's the way the system works? I was looking if there was a standard that was being breached by selling these miniature ranger figurines because they are/should not be able to be sold, or, if the way it is is the way it is

Different collectibles are saleable in different shops, depending on what the base item is. If the item is a collectible gem or piece of jewelry, then they may be sold in the gemshop (though the pawnshop may also buy them, just like normal treasure). If its not gemshop saleable, then it will often be pawnable. Some collectible pieces (particularly the common pieces that combine to create lower value treasure items) may not have enough value to simply sell on their own.
