I have been trying for a couple of hours to hunt these things. It is not unusual to have
ten misses in a row. I get way more misses than hits. Is this the norm?

Thanks, I wondered about that. It's the Taskmaster, it was his idea to go after the stupid shades.

One presumes you have spell aiming and some MIU skill. Grab some silver wands and add bolts into your attack mix.

Yeah, shades have really heavy armor. That's the huge negative CvA you see in that equation.
