Let another UAC Ambushing Rouge Question... 05/20/2018 04:39 PM CDT

Hey all, having a hard time with this guy. He does well damaging with UAC, but his DS is abysmally low. Something will have to change, because even fully spelled up he's just not viable. I enjoy the UAC and would like to stick with it. I've been working the last couple of levels on addin TWC trying to get it to 1x. Thought about dropping TWC and getting a small shield. Which would add more DS, small shield or fully 1x in TWC? Any comments, thoughts, suggestions? 3x Pick/Disarm is a must for him, other than that things are negotiable.

I haven't used a shield since GS3 so I couldn't speak to it, but here's the numbers I pulled from the test server back in January, re: DS bonus from TWC as applies to UAC. (Test subject was a 43 UAC bard, delta between training matters more than raw numbers as there are other factors at play here.)

That bit aside, one thing that's affecting your survivability is you're only 1x dodge. I highly recommend being 2x minimum. That will increase your raw DS and your dodge chance.

Overall, your training plan is very, very similar to my UAC locksmith's, with the primary exceptions of the dodge issue and a few cman choices. My habit of late has just been picking and occasional capped bandit runs with friends, so I'm not in a position to speak with authority on the precise combat strengths and weaknesses of the build when solo hunting at current level (68). However, I felt comfortably viable the last time I was regularly solo hunting (mid-high 50s).

You should be able to attack fast enough that you can get back into the shadows before whatever you're hunting can respond, whether you hit them or not. If things are moving around a lot where you hunt, VANISH is a lifesaver.

If you're hunting undead, a shield might be the best option since they're hard to stay hidden around with only 2x in S&H, just be aware that the shield will lower your MM. If you choose to stick with TWC, you should pump it up to .5x. Only having 17 ranks is pretty much wasting TPs, since the per rank benefit isn't that great, but maintaining .5x will give an additional +10 DS in addition to the per rank DS.

1x dodge is woefully undertrained in defense. I suppose you might get away with it in plate, but not in brig.

I was about 2.25x dodge and switched to chain around level 60.

CMan Asp is great, as it reduces the time needed for an ambush, letting you get back into hiding faster.

Oh, and you might wan to get evasion as an armor skill.
