OK< rather than convert one of my rogues to a monk, I grew one up from scratch, just to get a feel for the profession. A note that learning spells costs 38 MTPs; that's worse than a paladin. What is the expected level of spells for monks? 0.75x? Less? Also, I trained 2x in HP and put my mana stats fairly high. Yet, at level 1 I only have 5 mana. What's up with that?

Never mind the mana skill training question; I forgot how level 1 characters work :(
The extra rank only gives me 1 more mana. I'll get 2 more next level. But that means my intrinsic starting mana was only 1? How does that happen? I specifically put my mana stats fairly high (70 each).

Perhaps the mana stat isn't what you think.
About 0.4x is assumed. If you are training spells significantly, you'll almost certainly want to frontload the training.

According to the profession documentation, mana stats are logic and wisdom.

Oh buggery; could it be due to race? I picked a half-krolvin, for no good reason, and they get terrible wisdom and logic bonuses.
