Mm, this book is good. I burned through 750 pages today, and there's still a quarter of the book to go.

Oh man.. You are making it hard for me to honor my promise to myself to finish WoT before I go back to Rothfuss.. Isn't Kvothe, sitting there in my Kindle, cajoling me to put aside Rand just a little while longer enough!?

I popped over to Amazon.com to see what they had to say about the book and came across an interview with the author. One section had me laughing and thinking how well he'd fit in with us in GS:

Q: Fans love the books and are fascinated by the characters, but you’ve also garnered a cult-like following. Can you tell us what that’s like?

A: I've got a cult? That's awesome. Do they have robes and stuff? Do we have baccanals? We better have baccanals. If I have cult it better (be) old-school. Dionysian. Orgiastic. If I find out they're just drinking tang and handing out pamphlets on streetcorners I'm going to be pissed.

Needless to say I promptly ordered the first two books! Thanks, Auchand!

You're very welcome. I must confess to a pretty little lie. Yesterday, I said I read 750 pages. Some time after posting that, I went back and finished the entire thing.

I'm a fast reader, but ~990 pages in a day is not something I usually have the time or energy to manage. This held me spellbound. Funny enough, the interludes--when the story flashes back to Chronicler and Bast listening to Kvothe's story in the Waystone Inn--were timed almost perfectly with my day.

Hrm....book one has been sitting on my bookshelf for two years now. Guess I'll pick it up and give it a read.

I forced myself to read the latest WoT book (surprisingly entertaining) first so I wouldn't plow through Rothfuss at light speed. Just started it two nights ago and really liking it. He may have one of my favorite writing styles yet in the genre.

Also was tickled to read that Rothfuss offered to help Nathan Fillion buy Firefly back from Fox with his royalties, lol ( http://blog.patrickrothfuss.com/2011/02/an-open-letter-to-nathan-fillion/ ).

Just sent a sample to my Kindle. I may have to re-read the first one since that was quite a while ago! Been waiting on this one so long I had forgotten to look for it.
