Could the gem dealer take these out of my container when I do, e.g. SELL CLOAK?

They take scarabs which are not strictly gems. It just seems like a mechanic that wants me to script, and I always scratch my head over my encumbrance after blowing up a lot of boxes, since apparently I never learn.
