Here's a stupid one for good measure:

Wet blackness envelops everything, and the mud grasps powerfully at feet and legs. The lack of vision and the unsure footing in the muck below combine to confuse the senses, making direction a meaningless idea. Even "up" is in question at times. One can only swim and hope.
You let a few air bubbles escape from your mouth as you hold your breath.
Your lungs are beginning to ache for air as you swim through the black water.
You lose conciousness from the lack of air and uncontrollably gasp for air. You open your mouth and get a lung full of the black water and drown silently.
