This is why my sorcerer chants something that will prevent his attacker from attacking at all into his Cloak of Shadows...

If that clip hasn't been edited its a bug. 712 shouldn't turn on caster in those circumstances.

Hhhmmm... you're right, it should have either had the retribution effect OR cast Weapon Deflection on the attacker, but not both.

Attacker is dual wielding; he scored two different hits, one with each weapon. Wouldn't that trigger two retribution attempts?

I believe 712's retribution is per attack, not per hit. TWC attacks can hit twice, but it only counts as one attack.

It was changed. Its one every hit now (there are two retaliations in the clip before the cloak turns on the caster). Which gets pretty obnoxious with some retaliation spells (e.g. dispel) though its irrelevant a lot of the time.

I just saw the same effect myself (with focussed mstrike rather than THW) so it looks like cloak objects to firing multiple times when the extra make no difference to the target.

Huh, I was under the impression it did the murderous backlash only in specific/weird situations, like if the caster had a spell prepped or something. But that's obviously not the case here.

It backlashes on a failure to retaliate against the attacker. While one weapon deflection does something to the attacker, extra ones against the same TWC/mstrike do nothing more and that might be the reason for it.

It probably needs a player sorc to test what happens when they take multiple damage from mstrike or TWC with some unusual spells in their cloak to work out just what is going on.
