I haven't played in a LONG time, and I feel like there used to be a way for me to see how I appeared to others. Are there mirror somewhere or a command I've forgotten where I can see myself as others see me?

The New Look Pavillion in most towns has mirror (look for it on your town map). Otherwise if you ask around another player may have a mirror they would be willing to sell or loan you.

A PROFILE FULL followed by an INVENTORY can often serve as a poor man's mirror, as well.

Doesn't everybody get a mirror as part of the sprite quest?

Yes, but it doesn't show your reflection, it shows the sprite. And a returning player probably hasn't held onto it.
