Went to this yesterday, and there was much opportunity for inspiration: weaponry, armor, uniforms, clothing, vestments, drinking vessels, religious objects, curiosities, sculptures and paintings. Some of the weapons and armor pieces were meant for use, but most were fantastical ceremonial pieces or even better, fantasy works of the time.

Go see this exhibit if you can. It's currently at the Minneapolis Museum of Art till May 10th, but was put together in conjunction with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, so presumably it will travel to other locations, or maybe already has, I don't know. In any case, this is a must see exhibit of really cool stuff, spanning about 500-600 years from 1300's to early 1900's.
