Monk Utility Suggestion - Resistance Support 09/11/2018 01:55 PM CDT
Monks are able to meditate to increase their own resistance to a single element at a time, and they can change this resistance on command. I would like to suggest that monks be able to apply this resistance, in a much more reduced fashion, to other players.

1. Monks would be able to apply only a single form of resistance based on their ATTUNEment - Fire, Lightning, Air, Earth, Water(ice). This means they would be unable to apply more "rare" resistances that are available to just the monk, but because of they have attuned their bodies to one of these elements they are able to extend that protection to other adventurer's by focusing their mind.

2. The resistance would be based on their Mental Lore - Transformation skill. They can transform another player's aura slightly by meditating with said person, imbuing them with a higher understanding of their elemental attunement. This transformation allows the player to gain 2% - 10% resistance based on training in Mental Lore - Transformation. The first 2% of resistance is obtained with 20 ranks in the lore, and you can imbue an additional 2% per 20 ranks up to 10% at 100 ranks.

This resistance would NOT stack with any resistance currently found on armor, which includes temporary resistances found in the treasure system or from Ranger's Resist Nature (620). If a player has 15% resistance on their helmet, and 10% resistance to the same element from a Monk, they would have 15% resistance on their head, but 10% on the rest of the body. If they had full plate with 10% resistance, and were given resistance from a Monk of the same element, it would remain just 10% resistance.

Just a thought if we're looking for a way for monks to offer additional support to others beyond their grouped combat spells (which are not inherently monk spells, but minor mental spells that are not specifically designed for monks).
