Bug with focused MSTRIKE punches? 09/18/2016 11:43 AM CDT
> mstrike punch leopard
You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
You explode into a fury of strikes and ripostes, moving with a singular purpose and will!
You attempt to jab a mastodonic leopard!
You have decent positioning against a mastodonic leopard.
UAF: 301 vs UDF: 284 = 1.059 * MM: 94 + d100: 56 = 155
... and hit for 3 points of damage!
Hasty strike to chest doesn't do much harm.
Strike leaves foe vulnerable to a followup kick attack!
You lose the intense focus of your ki energy.
You attempt to kick a mastodonic leopard!

UAF: 271 vs UDF: 284 = 0.954 * MM: 83 + d100: 10 = 89
A close miss!

Hard kick to upper arm tears several muscles!
The mastodonic leopard is stunned!

Your series of strikes and ripostes leaves you winded and out of position.
Roundtime: 8 sec.

I would have expected it to go back to PUNCH after missing the tier-up on the KICK. Bug or working as intended?

IIRC, focused mstrike UAC will keep using the prospective tier-up attack until you hit with it, then switch back to your specified attack. So in that clip there, if you had one more focused swing, you would'a punched.

But if it fails the tier up attempt shouldn't it fall back to the regular swing? Once you miss with a tier-up opportunity it's lost until the next one. Is that different with mstrike?

You know, as I've found, the tier up opportunity lasts for a little while even if you miss the first and some subsequent attempts- so I'm assuming it lasts for x amount of seconds as opposed to being cancelled by a miss. So in this case here it would keep trying to nab that tier up due to its functionality with MOC. If you were doing singular manual attacks I think the tier up opportunity would stick around until either it ran out of time (a limit I don't have a number on) oor you got a different tier up opportunity (even if it was the same type of opportunity, but just a new opportunity), which would refresh the duration of the opportunity.

A NIR or someone with more extensive research into it would have to confirm, though, 'cause these are just my observations.

This has been my impression as well. You also lose the tier-up chance immediately if you use the wrong strike.

not really an edit: You'll notice that it does tier up to Good once the third kick finally connects

Your unarmed attack status against a particular foe remains valid for two minutes, refreshed with every attack against that foe whether it connects or not. A preexisting tier-up potential is retained across a miss, or across an involuntary strike (Flurry or Mongoose) that doesn't produce a tier-up strike on its own.

So to clarify, le tier-up potential/opportunity is retained for two minutes? If so that's pretty chill.
