Sonic Weapon Song/1012, now buggy with droppage 06/01/2017 09:00 AM CDT
Some discoveries last night, accidental but still illuminated. (And info submitted via 'bug magic' in-game, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to the GMs.)
Sadly, the Test Server wouldn't let me in to try burning a FixSkill back into weenie-weapons to see if it could be TRULY abused.

Fact pattern:
- ran my macro to equip all my Enhancives, as I usually do;
- pulled out the Runestaff with INFluence & AURa Enhancives (to max out Song duration);
- whistled up my Sonic Weapon "runestaff" and dropped it, as normal;
- incant powersong, 'mana spellup' + stop fortitude + stop Kai's;
- completely forget the fact that I already have Sonic Weapon Song running... so do it again;
- stow the stat-boost runestaff and pull out the Mana Recovery runestaff for 'mana pulse' so that I go into the field at full; put it away, and...
- notice that, hey, there's another runestaff floating in the room with me.
All of this was in the town's Four Winds Hall.

Result pattern:
- Able to 'get' it, no problem.
- FE display and 'glance' both show one sonic runestaff in each hand.
- 'song status' confirms medley renewal of only +4 mana (from one instance of Sonic Weapon Song).
- 'spell active' confirms existence of only one Sonic Weapon Song.

Get to my ring-out spot, have to drop one and leave it behind in order remove-and-wear the ring.
This was within the bounds of town.

Wander around, kill a few things. (Specifically, "wait 60 seconds so the dropped Sonic Weapon poofs.")
- Confirm with 'song status' that my medley is now -4 mana from where it was.
- Confirm with 'spell active' that there is no Sonic Weapon Song active.
- FE display and 'glance' both reveal presence of Sonic Runestaff in hand.
- Both regular [spell] and secondary [Lore] flares work just fine with this non-existent Weapon.
Obviously, this was in a hunting area.

Get back to town, do one final 'mana pulse', and instead of my normal 'stop singing' experiment a little: stripping out the Songs one at a time, 'song status' confirms that I am not singing any songs but I have a renewal of 0 mana... and still have a Sonic Runestaff in-hand (FE and 'glance').

At the medley time-out, all Songs invoked with 'mana spellup' fail simultaneously, as expected. Sonic Runestaff poofs a few second after, in a manner similar to Fortitude when you do the start/stop game.
The actual poof happened while standing at the bank teller, while writing up the last 'bug magic' and stowing it in my clipboard while the last 30s counted down.

I really wanted to get onto the Test Server and try it with left-hand/right-hand weapons and MStrike. Sad panda. :(

As an addendum:
- my next thought was to see whether starting Fortitude (for a one-song medley) would show only one song (just Fortitude) or two (add Weapon back in), and what the renewal cost from 'song status' would be (1, or 5);
- and to see what happened at the next actual renewal, whether the observed renewal was 1 or bumped to 5, and what 'song status' revealed at that point, and whether the weapon poofed or was now expected to be there because Weapon was now in the medley.

Didn't do it, because instead I did some email and logged out. But that's where I was headed.

.

GMs who want to chime in and say, "Test and be damned!" (or, alternatively, "Kindly stop breaking things...") with feedback are welcome. :)

Can you post or email me a log of it? Even if you drop your sonic weapon, it should be dissipating when you renew 1012:

>drop fal
As you drop your falchion, it hovers in mid-air and gently bobs up and down.
>
>incant 1012
You change your tune slightly, adding the element for Sonic Weapon Song to your song...
Your spellsong is ready.
You weave another verse into your harmony.
A sonic falchion dissipates.
You restart your song.
You begin singing and focus your voice into a vortex of air shaped like a sonic falchion, centered on your right hand.

Don't have a log, no, because Robert Don't Log. (And it didn't occur to me to copy/paste. :)

1) Don't try an actual weapon, try a runestaff. Could be different.
2) Don't do it in Just A Room, do it in a Four Winds building. (Every room a Node, could be different.)

.

Failing all else, I will try to duplicate this evening after work & then dinner & then Boy Scout meeting. (Busy evening.) I may be able to try it at lunchtime, but no promises.

3. Don't use incant, use prep/cast <weapontype>.

If you did a mana spellup in the middle, that's probably also worth adding to the recreation.

I used to do mana spellup, then sing the Weapon Song.

When the Illoke Mystics started using dispel and hit my runestaff a couple of times--which led me to agree with the "most recent first" discussions about Dispel spells--I changed my practice so that now I do the Weapon Song then PowerSong (so that they're both deeply buried), then the mana spellup, and finally Presence just to have a crap spell on top that I really don't care about.
On the bright side, when I see Presence drop I know that my medley duration is right around 50% over. :)

I'm still unconvinced about the "most recent first" still being a workable theory, since the Elemental Defenses & Targeting & Barrier have been in continuous operation since basically I stand up from the altar (since they have cumulative duration, I can burn that full head of mana you wake up with to stoke them up), everything else would be on top of them, and they were fairly regular recipients of the Mystic's casts. <shrug>

Checked at lunchtime... just thought of something, I may have already had a runestaff in my right hand this morning, and here they were both empty (after doing my 'mana pulse' to refill).
With both empty, it correctly dissipated the floating one & charged me 4mana for the renewal of one into my hand.

I'll try again with the Enhancive staff still in-hand (which makes sense that I would do, since it boosts INFluence == boosting duration, which is why I have it in the first place).

Further testing this evening, then.

Other Sonic Weapon oddities...

Miss Jooniper noticed the other night at the dais that when you drop your sonicweapon, and wave to it, it acts like you are actually waving it, as if you are still holding it.

At lunchtime, both of my hands were empty (after packing up the Mana Recovery handhelds from 'mana pulse') when I tried casting the second one, and it correctly dissipated the floating one/created one in my hand/charged me the renewal 4 mana cost.

This evening, I was able to re-create the situation from yesterday.
- RIGHT hand was full (with my INF enhancive runestaff, for longer casting time);
- I always use prep/cast, nothing pre-set;
- prior cast was already floating;
- NEW cast went to left hand;
- floating one dissipated after 60s of floating;
- Sonic Weapon Song was no longer in the medley after dissipation, and renewal cost dropped by 4;
- (I will see if I can engineer some MSP, to check and see if the Song count reduces for that as well);
- back in town, I stopped each remaining Song individually (and still had a staff), then sang Fortitude withOUT stopping it... Weapon dissipated a few seconds after the 'mana spellup' Songs all fell off simultaneously, and medley was at 1 mana renewal (only Fortitude).

In addition to checking the MSP situation, I will try it with other runestaves, see if it is peculiar to that one.

Currently I'm sitting around with a weapon but without a medley or renewal, waiting on the time hack for when that Song would have ended (had I not done a 'stop singing'), to see if I pay 0, 4, <other>, keep a weapon, or not....

Far as I'm concerned, "double Sonic Weapon" was not necessarily an "issue", more along the lines of, "well, DANG, we've been wanting that!" Kind of a free bonus. :)

.

.

With this now fixed, though...

Any chance we could get a rethink on the specifications for the spells? Currently we have Shield, 1009. Great! What about Two-Weapons folks? And of course we have Weapon, 1012. (Which now cannot even be manipulated into being Two-Weapon-y. Sad panda.)
Armor, 1014, I'm perfectly fine with right where it is.

But instead of specifying Shield or Weapon, can we do them as Left-Hand Equipage, and Right-Hand Equipage?
- Left-hand can be created as any 1HEdged, 1HCrush, Ranged, or Shield.
- Right-hand can be created as ANY weapon type--including one-handers (Brawl, Edged, Crush, Pole) & two-handers (2Hand, Pole)--& Magical ("runestaff").

New mnemonics, "soniclh" and "sonicrh"; numbers remain the same but point to different things depending on the noun specified when the spell gets activated.
