EVOKE'ing Minor water from the wrayth combat window 02/26/2022 01:02 PM CST
Hi, so a couple questions:

First, is it true that this forum is unsearchable? I tried looking for a way to search for my answer and could not find a way to search for it...

Second....

I recently switch my wizard to a training that invests the 20 Fire lore points to make Minor water bolt become a steam bolt. However, I cannot figure how to configure the Wrayth client to use EVOKE instead of CAST so I can't seem to cast steam bolts with the Wrayth UI and instead must type out "prep 903; evoke target" over and over, which is kind of difficult when pairing with rapid fire.

Can the client be configured to evoke steambolts with mouse clicks?

Cheers,
Andruhar the wayward winged wizard

If you are using RapidFire, the spell is supposed to automatically re-prep once you cast it the first time. Only do a "prep" if you want to cast a different spell later (or RapidFire expires).
Try just "evoke target" over and over again.

If may be the case that some key (or combination of keys) acts as "repeat the last thing".
In the Wizard FrontEnd, that key by itself is the "Enter" on the numpad; on the QWERTY side, it is "Ctrl+Enter".

So you would cast RapidFire, prep 903, evoke target (and "Enter" to effect that cast), and then just hold down Ctrl and smack the QWERTY "Enter" key a bunch of times to keep laying on the repeated casts.

First, forum search is um 'limited'.

Type INCANT by itself to see how to setup a spell(s) to EVOKE or do other stuff. So in this case do: INCANT SET EVOKE 903

Then you can just inc 903 and it'll attack a creature target and same target if more than one in a room or you can specify the target (or PC) via TARGET (noun) before INCanting.

You can also use the Up arrow to repeat scroll previous commands and Enter or the keyboard Enter to spam it.

Clicks will always incant. You can use INCANT SET if you always want it evoked. When I want to rapidly switch between different forms, I use macros.

e.g. my normal use of 309 is incant, but I occasionally want to evoke it, so I have a macro for that. I also have a generic channel target macro to channel whatever I prepped with a click. I always want 320 open cast, so I use INCANT SET OPEN for that.

Six hacks for searching the forum

A: Use Google to search one of the sister-product URLs, which, for some reason, they let be searchable:

tinyheroes.com:SEARCH TERM/S HERE (remember to make GemStoneIV one of your search terms)

B: Search the gswiki (Also search Google without the site: option, it can sometimes find things better at the wiki than the wiki can. Thankfully, our wiki IS able to be indexed by Google)

C: If it has happened in the last 6-ish years, search the TownCrier: http://gstowncrier.com

D: If it was an update to the game, look over the GemStone ChangeLog that Miss Leafi keeps up at the TownCrier. There's a detailed summary for each year from 2019 to current

https://gstowncrier.com/category/gsiv_changelog/

E: There is a GS specific search engine that can find the darndest things! http://gs4search.surge.sh/

F: There is some historical data stored in old messages at the Player's Corner web site, use that url for a Google site search like option A site:gsplayers.com
