While responding in another area of the forums on Discord challenges and getting ready to declare that we need suggestions, I realized two things. I hadn't contributed a suggestion myself, and I had a pretty keen insight and experience into something that might, maybe, be useful.
Discord itself can be a useful but overwhelming tool. One of the nicest things about our Discord is the Announcements channels, split up into various topical areas of interest.
Some of our members can't reach Discord for various reasons. As we have seen even here, we have members that do not use cell phones, which cuts them out. I'd enjoy seeing something being done about that. For example, let such players call Chris in Billing if she is willing, and approve their Discord usage manually. Easy if Chris has the bandwidth. However. . .
Suggestion: Why not set up a email digest capability, and every 24 hours (or 12 hours) send out one email with all of the announcements / links that are provided in the Discord Announcements channels?
Allow for a simple email communication that lets each player decide to opt-in (do NOT use an opt-out strategy, that'll get you in trouble these days) to whichever channels appear relevant. Let a daily (or morning edition / evening edition) missive allow us all to see the same information that is distributed to so many other channels, including here.
And in the meantime, find a way to support those members without mobile phones. When I retire, I promise you - I will be one.
