Have skill costs changed? 02/02/2020 07:02 PM CST
I reactivated an account after ~15 years away. One of my characters is a level 29 elf wizard, who I noticed has a ton of PTP converted to MTP:

Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 40 8
Shield Use.........................| 54 11
Physical Fitness...................| 120 30
Arcane Symbols.....................| 114 28
Magic Item Use.....................| 156 56
Spell Aiming.......................| 162 62
Harness Power......................| 142 42
Elemental Mana Control.............| 130 35
Elemental Lore - Air...............| 62 13
Elemental Lore - Earth.............| 50 10
Elemental Lore - Fire..............| 25 5
Elemental Lore - Water.............| 15 3
Survival...........................| 35 7
Stalking and Hiding................| 35 7
Perception.........................| 120 30
Climbing...........................| 102 24
Swimming...........................| 82 18
First Aid..........................| 86 19

Spell Lists
Major Elemental....................| 18

Spell Lists
Minor Elemental....................| 21

Spell Lists
Wizard.............................| 23
Training Points: 9 Phy 0 Mnt (622 Phy converted to Mnt)

I don't remember what state he was when I left, but it seems weird to have so many converted PTP for a pure that (AFAIK) had a fairly standard training path. Could this be due to the skill costs changing at some point, while the character's ranks stayed the same?

Here are his stats if they're useful:

*Starting Stats*
Strength (STR): 50
Constitution (CON): 40
Dexterity (DEX): 90
Agility (AGI): 50
Discipline (DIS): 70
Aura (AUR): 90
Logic (LOG): 90
Intuition (INT): 50
Wisdom (WIS): 80
Influence (INF): 50

*Current Stats*
Normal (Bonus) ... Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 55 (2) ... 55 (2)
Constitution (CON): 47 (-1) ... 44 (-3)
Dexterity (DEX): 99 (29) ... 99 (29)
Agility (AGI): 61 (20) ... 61 (20)
Discipline (DIS): 76 (-2) ... 76 (-2)
Aura (AUR): 100 (30) ... 100 (30)
Logic (LOG): 99 (24) ... 99 (24)
Intuition (INT): 64 (7) ... 64 (7)
Wisdom (WIS): 87 (18) ... 87 (18)
Influence (INF): 64 (17) ... 64 (17)

The starting stats seem like suspiciously round numbers as well, so maybe those were reset/reallocated at some point?

Does anything look off here?

Looks like the character may have been created in GS3 and never had his training/stats played with after the conversion to GS4... I'm not sure why a wizard would be given S&H or Shield Use, but I there were some odd things that happened in the conversion. I don't play a wizard, but it looks like there's quite a few TP that that could be better spent. Might wanna post that training in the wizard folder for some advice.

As for the converted TPs, that's completely normal. Even a mutant pure like a war mage is going to be converting a lot of TPs.

Starchitin, the OG

A severed gnomish hand crawls in on its fingertips and makes a rude gesture before quickly decaying and rotting into dust. A gust of wind quickly scatters the dust.

Yes, it's a GS3 character that I stopped using shortly after GS4. IIRC Growing Pains wasn't quite done, so I figured something had happened to make him a bit wonky. The shield use at least was intentional, since I think all professions used shields back then. No idea where S&H came from though.

I'll see what the wizards think about how to salvage/reform him. Thanks a lot!
