Mentor Visitation to Grik'Tyr - Of Imps and Grik 07/28/2012 09:35 PM CDT
Below is a heavily edited log of the Mentor Event Tonight. Quit well done! Lots of fun. One thing I didn't capture was that Inurita was using a wand of sorts to activate the illusion from the columns in the room...

Vrairdrick

Inurtia darkly says, "Let's begin."

Inurtia nervously giggles.

Inurtia says, "Many many years ago.."

Inurtia says, "The sister of Thanris Akeleyn Faendryl, Patriarch XVI of House Faendryl, was said to be the first to pierce the veil into other valences."

Inurtia uncomfortably says, "It cost her her sanity.."

Inurtia grins nervously.

Inurtia says, "In fact, an asylum was erected in her honor aptly named the "Elizabeth Mahkra Faendryl Asylum for the Thaumatugically Unsettled.".
"
Inurtia slowly empties her lungs.

Inurtia says, "Elizabeth never recovered but thankfully others did. Over time, the Faendryl began to understand more and more about the other worlds and creatures that existed within them."

Inurtia nods gravely.

Inurtia says, "Eventually, they began compiling their records into what was to become the Enchiridion Valentia."

Inurtia says, "Because of these thorough records, tonight we're going to be able to do something that has never been done before."

Inurtia shifts her weight, trembling slightly.

Inurtia fidgets.

Inurtia says, "We are all going to visit another world.. the valence of Grik'Tyr by way of illusion."

Inurtia stiffly says, "Please, don't panic, you will be completely safe."

Inurtia seriously says, "This is a very powerful illusion. You will see, hear and feel everything as though we are really there."

Inurtia perspires delicately.

Inurtia says, "I ask you now to please secure any and all belongings, calm your loved ones if they begin to panic and prepare yourself for the experience of a lifetime."

Inurtia perspires delicately.

[The Back Room]
Flanking both sides of the curtained opening are two towering ceremonial shields. A few makeshift stools stand directly behind the dark grey metal worktable in the center of the room. Against the back wall is a dark iron shield rack and a hand-carved lor shield stand. You also see a fat white cat, a ruffled narrow-winged falcon, the Angeleze disk, the translucent Inurtia disk, the translucent Zenton disk, the Willhee disk, the Arpelli disk, the fiery red Erosophe disk, the Veni disk, the Deron disk, the Hoy disk, the translucent Xett disk and an opaque glass column.

Inurtia loudly says, "Stay calm everyone; remember this is just an illusion. You are in no danger but you will feel as those you're experiencing the effects of the valence."

A strange hum emits from the opaque glass column and it begins to glow.

The air around you suddenly feels remarkably dry making it uncomfortable to breathe.

The room begins to waver. The fabric enclosure of the tent seems to disappear and what little light there was, flickers out leaving nothing but darkness.

Inurtia breathlessly says, "I welcome you to Grik'Tyr, one of the most detailed valences documented within the Enchirdion Valentia."

[Grik'Tyr]
As far as the eye can see, the landscape here seems to repeat in every direction. The ground is rigid and riddled with spiderwebs of lightless canyons that thread between chaotically formed boulders. The sky here is a saturated grey overcast that yields no visible definition to the atmosphere. You also see a fat white cat that is sitting, a ruffled narrow-winged falcon, the Angeleze disk, the translucent Inurtia disk, the translucent Zenton disk, the Willhee disk, the Arpelli disk, the Veni disk, the translucent Xett disk and an opaque glass column.

Obvious exits: none

Inurtia loudly says, "I'm going to speak up a bit and hopefully you can hear me over the wind. Grik'Tyr is known for its violent winds so it might be a good idea to secure your belongings in case things get to be too much."

Inurtia loudly says, "In case you haven't already done so."

Inurtia loudly says, "I'm going to tell you a bit about what you're seeing."

With a sudden flash of insight, you realize you now understand more of what you have experienced.....
(Made my mind Clear from 0 exp stored)

Inurtia loudly says, "As you can see, the land here is quite irregular. It is home to massive boulders that are culturally significant to one of the inhabitents here. In contrast, it is also littered with dangerous cliffs and canyons that cut through the ground."

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Kasia is buffeted by the wind and knocked to the ground! (lots of this throughout session)

Inurtia tilts her head down.

Inurtia glances at Kasia.

Inurtia loudly says, "If you haven't already noticed, the air here is astonishingly dry and a source of water has never been recorded."

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Speaking to Inurtia, Erosophe says, "And it's cold."

Inurtia nods slowly.

Inurtia loudly says, "Stay huddled close together everyone."

Inurtia loudly says, "The only observations regarding the weather have been the whipping winds; precipitation of any kind has never been seen."

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Inurtia loudly asks, "Would you all be interesting in hearing about its inhabitents?"

Arpelli nods at Inurtia. (lots of others agree too)

Inurtia nods slowly.

Solkor says, "Or you could show us..."

Speaking to Solkor, Inurtia says, "I assure you, you do not wish to enounter them."

Speaking to Solkor, Inurtia says, "Especially in their own land..."

Inurtia loudly says, "Grik'Tyr is home to two demons you might have seen before under a Faendryl sorcerer's control. They are the Imps and the Griks."

The air remains dry and your lips begin to chap.

Solkor says, "Right...sorry, I was assuming this is an illusion."

Inurtia nervously says, "It.. is.."

Inurtia loudly says, "The Grik are the dominant inhabitants regardless of them being outnumbered to the Imps due to their ability to fly."

Carmilie softly says, "Demons..."

Inurtia loudly says, "The Griks are territorial society with four known tribes that have been documented. They lay claim to their ground by elaborate arrangements of boulders, defacing or destroying these boulders by another tribe will quickly stir up a war."

Speaking to Hoy, Deron says, "Don't draw on the boulders."

Inurtia agrees with Deron.

Inurtia loudly says, "These arrangements are sacred and it is said that the Grik will burn the image of their tribes onto their thigh. This is beneficial to the documentation and learning about these different tribes."

The wind whips around you, nearly knocking you off balance.

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Terrachon is buffeted by the wind and knocked to the ground!

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Aluvius is buffeted by the wind and knocked to the ground!

Several others are knocked over as well

Johanna says, "Hmm wind's getting worse."

Inurtia loudly says, "The other inhabitants of this valence are the Imps. Imps are interesting creatures and a bit more humanoid in appearance than the Griks. They're small, have narrow waists and limbs, are chalky white and devoid of hair."

Inurtia loudly says, "What I think is the most interesting feature, or lack there of, is the face of the imp. It, itself is featureless until it is studying something or being studied."

Inurtia loudly says, "If you've never encountered it, it is quite facinating."

Inurtia loudly says, "It is a creature of mimic, and will take on the features of whatever has caught its attention in order to learn more about it. It's a fascinating thing to watch, they can actually wholly shape shift to any form they desire but usually it's just the face that mimics."

The fierce winds suddenly shift directions, catching you off guard.

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Inurtia tilts her head down.

Inurtia loudly says, "I want to share a few more things with you about these two before the illusion here ends. When we get back, I can answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability."

Inurtia gulps.

Inurtia loudly says, "The Grik as I said earlier are the dominant inhabitants. The majorities of Imps have been intimidated into servitude among the various Grik tribes and have even been forced to fight each other over Grik wars."

Inurtia loudly says, "Imps are very aware of the Grik hierarchy and this can cause trouble for sorcerers who summon either demon."

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Inurtia is buffeted by the wind and knocked to the ground!

Rimio pulls Inurtia to her feet.

Inurtia glances about with a look of concern on her face.

A sudden fierce gust of wind howls through the area!

Inurtia nervously says, "The winds are getting worse."

Inurtia loudly says, "After a sorcerer summons an Imp, for example, if they encounter a Grik another sorcerer has summoned he could easily lose control if not paying full attention."

Inurtia loudly says, "The Imp will become extremely agitated and unsure of who the master is in these situations. If the Grik were to gain control of an Imp over a sorcerer, who knows what damage could be done. Losing control of a demon is one of the worst offences a sorcerer can commit."

Speaking to Inurtia, Deron says, "Not too conducive to continued respiration, either."

Inurtia gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

Inurtia loudly says, "All right, the illusion is going to be ending shortly so when it does I can answer any questions you might have."

The wind screams wildly and tears at your clothes. The glass column begins to shine brightly until it banishes all shadows in the room. As the light within the column ebbs, the surroundings are once again normal.

Rolfard applauds Inurtia.

Inurtia proudly exclaims, "See, we all made it back safe and sound, just like I said!"

Speaking softly in Elven to Inurtia, Aircaly asks, "With all the problems that can arise from summoning demons, why summon them at all?"

Speaking to Aircaly, Inurtia says, "As with any great power, there are both dangers and benefits. Understanding leads to control."

Speaking to Inurtia, Sovine says, "Somethin the dhe'nar have made almost an art."

Speaking softly to Inurtia, Carmilie asks, "Kin ta sorcerer gain control of a demon once it tis lost to another?"

Inurtia cryptically says, "Yes, it was a powerful illusion." (Response to why people fell over if it was illusion)

Inurtia says, "This is an open floor, please ask any questions you might have about Grik'Tyr or demonic summoning in general."

Speaking to Inurtia, Sovine asks, "Can we see another place like that one with different demons?"
>
Speaking to Aluvius, Inurtia says, "Well..."

Speaking to Inurtia, Sovine asks, "What was that demon the first Faendryl called that he lost control of in the city an eventually got killed for calling?"

Aluvius asks, "Can those inhabitants cross over on their own?"

Speaking to Aluvius, Inurtia says, "Not so much on their own but many occurances of accidental .. peircing of the veil."

Speaking to Sovine, Inurtia says, "Maybe someday, not tonight or anytime soon."

Inurtia chuckles.

Speaking to Inurtia, Anru asks, "An imp unaware of being observed; Does it have any sort of recognizable form?"

Inurtia says, "From the evidence we have, it has not been documented to see a creature from another valence within one it should not be."

Speaking softly to Inurtia, Carmilie asks, "How many demons kin a sorcerer have under ter control at one time?"

Inurtia says, "Oh dear."

Speaking to Carmilie, Inurtia says, "I assure you, one is more than enough."

Speaking to Carmilie, Inurtia says, "It requires concentration, focus..."

Speaking to Carmilie, Inurtia says, "The Faendryl are very cautious with their use of demonic summoning, the past has shown everyone exactly how important it is to respect the power of demons."

Speaking to Carmilie, Inurtia says, "Losing control is just not an option."

Rolfard raspily says, "Summoning is not a talent reserved for one group of elves."

Japhrimel says, "... and spiritual magic."

Inurtia says, "Indeed, it is not but I'm speaking from the Faendryl perspective."

Inurtia smiles.
