Glen Cook's "The Black Company" 10/08/2019 02:08 PM CDT
I know that this series of books has been brought up in conversation MANY times over the years here, so I wanted to share the pleasant surprise that I just got a few weeks ago: a release in book for of a compilation of some of the short stories he had released. (And he bound them together with some interludes, to make a 'comprehensive story', kind of like how Larry Niven did with the 'Crashlander' and 'Flatlander' books.)

Unfortunately, he had--since they fall smack dab in the midst of the pre-existing books' timeline...--to do them as the old, "So sorry, but this entire season of 'Dallas' was just a dream." :(

.

So, "Port of Shadows", released 11-Sept-2018. Enjoy!

Neat.

Sweet is the sound of the pouring rain,
And the stream that falls from the hill to plain.
Better than rain or rippling brook,
Is a mug of beer inside this Took.

I really enjoyed the early books, but the last two are just dragging on and on.

Lots of interesting ideas and characters. If more people would just stay dead, I'd have loved them more.
