Aviwasp was born in the far north and west of the continent on an archipelago occupied by Krolvin Rafi'kaes clan members. His mother was a human slave and she named him Aviwasp which means "deathsting" in her dialect. She never took to captivity and was beat to death by her master in front of Aviwasp who, living up to his name, snuck into the masters room as he slept and killed him in his sleep.
After that Aviwasp escaped and stowed away aboard a Krolvin trading ship. Upon discovery he was pressed into service and he sailed with them for a number of years, until he could jump ship in the north of the Elanith continent. While still a boy he was penniless and half wild, living in a foreign port through his wits, stealth and cunning. One day he was found by a Cleric who was in town doing some trading. The cleric took him in and raised him as foster son. Given Aviwasp's background as a little thief and killer, the cleric attempted to civilize the boy by getting him the skills and training he needed to not only fit into society but to also have a reputable career as a Rogue.
From there he worked his way south until eventually "waking up" one day in a back alley of the backwater town Wehnimer's Landing.

/How did you come up with it? Also, how is your name pronounced?/
Nazarr's name means "branch" in Hebrew and "vow" in Arabic. It's pronounced nuh-ZARR.
I picked it because a) it wasn't too long, b) it was relatively easy to spell, and c) I couldn't think of any low-level creatures with names beginning with NA (so I probably wouldn't get hit accidentally if someone was aiming at a creature). I wasn't really married to the name, as I couldn't count on name availability. (In fact, his name was originally supposed to be Nazar--even shorter and easier to spell!--but that was already taken.)
His last name, Csaba--pronounced CHAH-bah--means "shepherd" or "gift" in Hungarian. (The pronunciation is mine; I have no idea how it's pronounced in Hungarian.) He adopted the name because his Faendryl parents work as shepherds in a small mountain village in Dragach, and that's the term they use for their job.
*
Hasau (pronounced huh-SOW--got her name from the word "hasu." In Japanese, "hasu" means "lotus," which seemed like a pretty name for a girl who's a monk. But in Old English, it means "grey" or "ashen," suggesting the name might just be a nickname she acquired early in life because she's half-Krolvin. (She stands by the "lotus" meaning, insisting that that's what her name means in Krolgeh.)

Khylynnia is something that I have used for a few years now. The original character name I had that it was based upon was Khylyn (Pronounced KIL-lynn). That character was a Paladin in DragonRealms who I based off of Clare from Claymore. Khylynnia was originally pronounced KILL-in-yah, but has since been rebranded as kai-LYNN-ee-ah, and her nickname of Khy sounds like KAI (Pie with a K)
I hope that clarifies Khy's name for any who had no clue how to pronounce a name with a bunch of "y"'s in it.

>> Since one of the parameters of our characters in-game is that each of us must have our own unique name, how did you come up with it? Also, how is your name pronounced?
I came to the forums looking for something else, but this is a nice sidetrack even if I'm two years late, hee!
Skip this if you hate my long posts. This is one of them. :D
Luniere Forensia (dark elven sorcerer) and Soliere Firensia (sylvan cleric) were two of my first characters in Gemstone. I was coming into Gemstone having never roleplayed before online, and I was really unsure of how to "fit in" at the time. I knew that it wouldn't be possible for these girls to be real sisters due to their races being different, but they were going to be sisters. So I decided they would have been abandoned nameless and left near the ramp of the temple at Icemule Trace. There's story prior, and many twists beyond. But suffice it to say that the lowly groundskeeper at the temple at that time, found the girls and decided to give them names.
For those first characters, I wanted to use something for sun vs moon, light vs dark, good vs evil, but I wanted a naming system that could perhaps be somewhat "mine" in a big wild internet where there would potentially be tens of thousands of players all attempting to make up their own naming schemes. So, I think it was from my study of Latin for 3 years that I picked "sol" (solis/sol) for sun and "lun" (luna) for moon.
And I picked -iere as my personalized ending because I liked the way the ending looked a bit French and quirky... and did not seem like it would be chosen by a lot of people (maybe -ere, but not -iere, or so I thought). The girls' nicknames would then become Solie (and i love SO + LIE, no clue why that tickles my fancy to this day) and Lunie (and LOONY tickles my fancy too, though Lunie is NOT a Zelia follower as may people have suspected she was).
So now in my family of "Icemule Temple ramp" adoptees, who were eventually adopted by the kind Lady Redowyn sometime between 5096 and 5100, are these and others:
(main emphasis is always on the first syllable, with secondary emphasis on the last syllable)
Soliere <SO'-LEE-AIR> (latin sol/solis, sun - cleric)
Luniere <LOO'-NEE-AIR> (latin luna, moon - sorcerer)
Terriere <TARE'-EE-AIR> (latin terra, earth - ranger)
Abriere <OB'-REE-AIR> (spanish abrir, to open - box opening rogue)
Aeriere <AIR'-EE-AIR> (latin/greek aer, air - ditzy airheaded bard)
Mystiere <MIST'-EE-AIR> ("mystery" - fortunetelling rogue, creeps around hidden)
Stoniere <STOW'-NEE-AIR> ("stone" - warrior "like a rock")
Wyndiere <WIN'-DEE-AIR> (love the name Wynn but it needed a consonant before "-iere" and i love the spell "Call Wind" - wizard) (Wyndiere is half of the "Terrible Twizzards" - the other of the two being my Ascaria <A-SCARE'-EE-AH> emphasis on AIR, whose name I just made up because it sounded pretty and she was to be beautiful, though she hates her nickname "SCAREY" that the family gave her and insist upon using to this day)
Bloodiere <BLOOD'-EE-AIR> ("blood" - empath) who insists her name is <BLOO-DEAR'> emphasis on DEAR, and demands that people call her BLOO because she hates her real name
The -iere name of mine you will love to hate, is Elfiere <EL'-FEE-AIR>, who does not "play" but only holds my Thrakmas stuff. Back in the day when Santa Thrak was a "real in-game thing" moreso than now, Elfiere would often make appearances at Thrakmas. No one back then complained, but nowadays I figure she would just be a frustration to a zillion folks wanting to badname her but being unable to get rid of her because she is so old. Out of respect to allay'all, she bowed out gracefully. 0;)
There are likely some other -iere names in my host of 162 but who wants to read that list any more than I care to type it.
There have been (to my knowledge but I'd love to hear of others) only two notable -iere names that are NOT ME: Riviere is one of them, and I forget the other one, so am unsure if that one was really notable after all. Whoever got Riviere, bravo, I doubt you will ever sell your character but if you do, keep me in mind. 0:)
I'm tired of typing. I'm sure you're tired of reading, at least 5 paragraphsh ago.
So last but not least, as for surnames...
Forensia (Luniere) I chose first and did so based on my Modus Operandi character Tamsin Forensia (who was named for, duh, forensics) and I just loved that name. With Luniere being planned to be the darkish evilish creepy girl that she still is, I thought being named after someone who had investigated deaths and tested dead people, sounded perfect, even if it was from another game. :x
Firensia (Soliere), well, "sun" made me think of "fire"... and there I went, naming her one letter different than the future-adoptive sister.
I should probably go in and have everyone's last name changed to Firensia, or even to their adoptive mum's name, but it's so late in the game, why bother. So you will find amongst my -iere's the surnames Furynsia, maybe Ferinsia, maybe Firinsia, and other crazy attempts to fit a F-r-nsia surname mold.
That's it, if you read this far, you're a virtual star in my book.
I so enjoyed reading everyone else's posts that it took a two-hour-long chunk out of my night because I'm a slow reader, but y'alls were worth it. WHEE! :D
Soliere's player, the wind beneath their virtual wings (EXCEPT FOR RIVIERE, not mine!)

Kiturana (kit to rah nah)
Kit came from Kitara (not sure on spelling) from the Dragonlance novels.
I was looking for a name that could be shortened like Tinkerbell being called Tink.
I thought about Kitara and said to myself, ok how can I make that name my own and apply to an elf? Swapped some letters around, added some letters and Kiturana was born. Honestly rather surprised nobody had taken it already.
