Cast your vote for Paupers' ornament on the CHE Solstice Tree! 11/09/2017 11:43 PM CST
Calling all members! The Solstice will be on us before we know it, so it's time to prepare an ornament to represent Paupers on the annual CHE Solstice Tree.

Cast your vote to determine the winning ornament by going to the House of Paupers grounds in the Landing or any Paupers annex and typing VOTE HOUSE. The ornament design with the most votes will be created and hung on the Solstice Tree in December.

Happy voting!

The votes have been cast, and the results are in!

a carved pinewood ball ornament  SHOW: A deep circle has been carved out of nearly one third of the smooth pine ball. Nestled within the hollow in detailed relief is a keg bearing a triple chalice seal. "Happy Solstice - 5117!" is engraved along the bottom, and a hanging loop of twine is secured to the ball's top. -0 votes

an etched frosted glass stein  SHOW: Detailed etchings show figures of varying races linking arms around the stein. A brushed pewter handle engraved with "Happy Solstice From Paupers" extends out from the body, allowing the stein to be hung. -1 vote

a painted giftbox ornament  SHOW: Four sides of this cubical ornament are painted with vivid winter scenes.  One face depicts people sitting around a bonfire while others enjoy a spirited snowball fight on the opposite side.  A third scene shows fur-clad people skating over a frozen pond and the fourth shows a large snowman standing beside a frost-rimed ale keg, framed by the words "HAPPY SOLSTICE FROM PAUPERS" painted in gold. Gold-veined blue ribbon forms both a fancy bow on top of the box, as well as a loop to hang the ornament. -2 votes

a wreath ornament of pine and mistletoe adorned with bright white ora ravens. --2 votes

a blue and gold glass chalice ornament  SHOW: Alternating tiny blue and gold glass chalices have been secured at their base to form a round ball. A wide white silk ribbon embroidered with "Happy Solstice - 5117" embroidered in blue thread forms a hanging loop extending from the ball's center. -2 votes

a jade green glass pixie ornament  SHOW: The translucent glass pixie is held in mid-flight by a shimmering gold ribbon tied around her waist. Her delicately etched wings are spread to their full width, and her torso is turned to show the mischievous expression frosted onto her face. One hand is raised slightly, carrying a foaming tankard, while the other holds the end of a gold silk banner embroidered with blue thread to read, "Happy Solstice from Paupers - 5117!" --3 votes

a sculpted caroler ornament  SHOW: A trio of carolers have been sculpted in fine detail, each holding an open book in one hand while the other raises a mug in a toast. The garments are painted bright blue and gold in stark contrast to the snow white base bearing the message "Happy Solstice!" in elegant blue script. A twisted vaalin wire is secured at each end of the carolers, providing a hanging loop. --7 votes

The winning design, with 11 votes, will be revealed at the official CHE Solstice Tree event when we hang it on the tree (date and time to be announced), and will then be posted here.

(For any who are curious, the winning design was created by an officer due to low member submissions. Paupers officers did NOT cast a vote for the ornaments, reserving their votes only for the event of a tie.)

Thank you everyone for your participation!

The CHE ornaments were hung on the Solstice Tree in Ebonstone Manor's Atrium earlier this week. Representing House of Paupers is:

a weathered glaes building ornament - Clever painting lends the appearance of weathered stone to the glaesine walls of this miniature replica of House Paupers. A candle sits nestled within the ornament, casting a muted glow through the many windows, each decorated with the silhouettes of reveling merrymakers. Blue and gold banners hang from the snow-heavy roof, bearing the message, "Happy Solstice - 5117."

If you would like a replica - of this or any other CHE ornament - they are for sale in the case by the Solstice Tree.

To get to the CHE Solstice Tree, go up the brick pathway off North Ring Road (in the Landing), then go down the walkway to Ebonstone Manor, and finally into the atrium.

Thank you everyone who voted! Although our ornament was not selected as a winner among all the CHE ornaments, those gathered at the decorating event showed a great appreciation for our design.
