P.S. Loving this discussion guys, while I always have a thousand ideas on my mind on what I would like to explore in the Empire, it's even more fun seeing what others are interested in!

I'm twisting this to mean that Fineval was possessed by the gradually reincarnating Arch-Lich Dhartiir, who is now exploiting our planar vulnerabilities to return in full force, and the world is doomed until we storm the Southron Wastes and destroy his phylactery.

You can have that one, but I got dibs on "Lichbane". The one you mention has been part of my families combined back-stories for nearly 15 years.

1) What part(s) of the Empire are your character(s) from?
Idolone, in Estoria.
2) What made you pick those areas?
Several things: I introduced my guy in Solhaven, very much as a young Estorian who'd come north to see his earl's desire to punish Wehnimer's Landing fulfilled, and to aid in that endeavor, if possible. Building from that concept, I found Estoria's political incorrectness, its xenophobia, and its hostility towards the frontier to be an RP treasure trove. Working (more or less) through this background has provided me with a whole lot of fun, and has given my character a lot of room to develop. Taking a person from such a different place also allowed me to play something of a fish out of water, with the radically different social morays of where he is living now, compared to where he came from.
3) Is there any particular lore about that part of the Empire you'd like to see fleshed out more?
I'd like to have more information on the social tiers (merchants, clerics, nobles, mages, etc.)within the Empire, and what their strengths are in the different regions.

>1) What part(s) of the Empire are your character(s) from?
Capell originally hails from Krestle, in Bourth, though he has strong familiar ties to Elstreth (Aldora) on his father's side. You won't hear him talk of that, though. He's spent most of his youth between Krestle and Gallardshold with occasional forays outside of Bourth. While he still prefers the eastern Empire, he has spent the past half decade closer to the north, primarily in Vornavis and Solhaven, and he has grown to appreciate the relatively lax stance toward Chaston's Eddict there.
>2) What made you pick those areas?
Bourth was picked for several reason. I like how much the local politics play into support both for and against the Eddict - and how the differing factions have grown more and more bold over their respective beliefs. Having a (relatively) large non-human population there makes for all sorts of interesting possibilities, especially in portraying a half-elven character who is neither happy with his hathlyn heritage nor with how mixed breeds are treated anywhere.
Elstreth was selected due to its ties to Krestle related to the Order of Voln. There's a decent bit of backstory there that I've never had the opportunity to play much with in game, but one day I'd like to do so. The idea of consequences from past actions finally playing out really appeals to me. Capell has the potential to really play that concept up in the right circumstances. They've just never arisen.
>3) Is there any particular lore about that part of the Empire you'd like to see fleshed out more?
I love the Order of Voln document. It's one of my favorites related to the Empire as a whole, but I'd actually like to see even more in terms of the major pantheon interpretations and sects within each line of worship. How is worship of the pantheon(s) typically practiced, and how does it vary from region to region? Which cities and baronies prefer which Arkati as their patrons - and how might Kai, for example, be seen differently in Jantalar versus Kragsfell? What different sub-sects are there within the Church of Lorminstra? Which pantheons of worship, or individual churches of worship, are the most welcoming of non-humans within their fold? Which are the least welcoming? How are the various Lornon Arkati worshipped as a "norm" within society, such as praying to Mularos to help relieve pain, or providing an offering to Onar to buy his favor to shield one from assassination plots?
Generally, I want to see more with Bourth. I'd love to hear more about the major cities there and how the non-human population interacts with the humans. One of my favorite early fluff hair props are those feathers that alter features and can be worn Gallardshold-style. I'd love to see a return of those and other props that are city or barony specific.
I'd also really love to see more information on the specific ruling families, both current and historic. We have some information on the imperial lines and some on the influential players of the north.. but what about the Caulfields Calquinors, Krestles, and (especially) Chandrennins? Can we have an updated list of who is the head of each ruling house?

1) What part(s) of the Empire are your character(s) from?
Jantalar
2) What made you pick those areas?
When I was a mentor, many moons ago, I had to do some research for a project I chose. This was when the Wonders of Elanthia was going on. The merchant that showed up had been held prisoner at the abandoned outpost in the Outlands. I did my best to pry as much information from him regarding the occupation by forces from Jantalar. Furthermore, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the outpost and effect of leftover mandis crystal gunk. The TLDR boils down to I liked what I read about the lore and thought it would be a good choice to play an embittered character.
3) Is there any particular lore about that part of the Empire you'd like to see fleshed out more?
I need to put more thought into this. Having been away from the game for such long periods and not having the same gobs of time I did, I need to re-read some lore and get back to it.

>1) What part(s) of the Empire are your character(s) from and 2) What made you pick those areas?
* Three (half-elves all, for some reason) from the Sea of Fire, because desert cultures and their trappings have fascinated me since I was a wee thing.
* One from Nydds in South Hendor, in part because it sounded rather cosmopolitan, being a great big ol' college town, and its City of Flowers rep seemed very fitting for my bard-in-cleric's-clothing. Possibly more importantly, because of the Commune doc being written from the perspective of a cleric of Cholen, at the Crimson Lute Monastery in Nydds. Clearly my cleric of Cholen needed the influence of the only officially referenced Cholen-dedicated holy order/temple.
>3) Is there any particular lore about that part of the Empire you'd like to see fleshed out more?
When I was figuring out the path of the traveling troupe of troubadours my cleric once called her own, I would have liked a more detailed map of the Empire, with actual territory borders. I blocked out my best guesses and went with it at the time. (Not that it was Critical to my Continued Survival, but you know how details can be.) I briefly played a character from Dragach, and I think there's some fascinating lore hiding in those mountains. I'd also love to see some myths, legends, tall tales and otherwise handed-down stories surrounding Kezmon Isle and its disappearance/speculations thereto. I bet the seacoast towns in the area have some -great- ones.

I am hella late. Thrill to my thread necromancy.
1) What part(s) of the Empire are your character(s) from?
Aiska was born and raised in Brisker's Cove, in the County of Seareach.
2) What made you pick those areas?
Hilariously, because Seareach evoked the same imagery for me that it did for Aydan - this Mediterranean oasis wedged between the desert and the sea. Brisker's Cove looks a lot like Istanbul in my mind, which is attractive to me, as is the general strangeness of the County and its weird customs and mysticism and general proximity to the Tehir. I picked Brisker's Cove over Phannus because Aiska was always going to be a street rat, and the disparity between the wealthy and the poor would be particularly huge there.
3) Is there any particular lore about that part of the Empire you'd like to see fleshed out more?
The Sisters of the Hidden Eye are weird as hell and what is even going on there. I'd also like to know more about Seareach/Tehir relations - Reachers overlap, interact, and conflict with those dudes more than just about anyone, and having a ballpark idea of where all parties stand on that would be terrific. Right now I just sort of blast my own stupid ideas into the empty space.
Khristal asks, "Who uses scimitars anyway?"
Svardin says, "Folks dat should use axes."
You nod sagely.
