It should be HIT BELL WITH MALLET.... that said, it's been years since I last tried so I could be misremembering. It's a very old part of the Rest that prolly hasn't been touched by a GM since it was put there, so it won't work if you don't type out every word completely.

If you're just testing it, try to let anyone else that might be in town know what you're doing... it's supposed to alert others of an incoming invasion, though no one ever remembers to use it when an actual invasion occurs.
