Cysaegir Receives Beacon Tower 04/30/2018 09:19 PM CDT
The Argent Mirror put several of her best builders to the task of erecting a beacon tower in Cysaegir. The Cysaegir tower is located off a sandy path on the Glimae'den Wildwood, Trail, and the corresponding tower is located off BriarStone Wey in Ta'Illistim.

OOC ~ The tower should only be seen in Ta'Illistim. We will fix up the issue with it being seen in Ta'Vaalor.

The description of the trail leading to Cysaegir indicate that Ta'Vaalor is barely visible from the mountainside so it might be fine to keep as it is?

[Glimae'den Wildwood, Trail]
Here at the trailhead, just beneath the cresting at Whistler's Pass, the surrounding landscape of the ancient forest is breathtaking. Jutting out and away from the mountainside, the view captures a glimpse of Mreanith Lake to the south and the rolling hills of Khalerineth Valley to the east. Just beyond, the keep of Ta'Vaalor barely rises above the treeline edging Fearling Pass.

From this distance, you can just recognize the ghostly pale stone of the ancestral home of House Vaalor.

I really really love the new beacon tower, very excited to see this new addition to Cysaegir, and I am sorry I wasn't able to participate more during the unveiling but it just happened to fall on the weekend I was moving. I don't think it would make sense for the beacon tower not to be visible from both Ta'illistim and Ta'Vaalor since we are more elevated (visible) up in the mountains and as someone pointed out already there is a lovely spot on the Glimae'den Wildwood, Trail that shows the vantage of ta'vaalor far below. It might be neat to add a scrying crystal there so we could peer down at Ta'vaalor in more detail, kinda like the observation tower in the Landing (kind of a scenic overlook).

I'm perfectly fine with the beacon being seen in Ta'Vaalor. Though it was not the original intent (and I have no real say over Cysaegir), I think Archales makes a strong argument for keeping it as is.

I will think about it, I kind of like having to light the towers along the way.

The intent of this tower was to alert Ta'Illistim. The House of Illistim doesn't always call on Ta'Vaalor for help. They have a military and can handle themselves too.

I am also skeptical that you can see TV, even though there are some room descriptions that say so. I was going to look at them....

I will think about it!

For what it is worth, using the size of the Earth as a standard of comparison, at a height of 1 to 3 miles the horizon is about 100 to 150 miles away.

The subject of distance scales on the maps has come up before, but this is the first time it has occurred to me that room roughly defines it.
