Yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't care anyway way since they can't buff any weapons. We should also swap light thrown and large edged with 'em. Warrior mages are probably more ranged oriented than traders.

Leave my Large Edge bonus alone. =(
I think a lot of the weapon choices for SOI were arbitrary. But I can't think of any way to make them less arbitrary.

I'm mostly happy with the WM SOI choices. I can see the argument for crossbows vs bows, and I would support it, but this personally doesn't impact me since I don't train a ranged weapon as one of my primaries.
The only SOI thing I'd say I am disappointed with is no Small Edged in SOI. I know obviously it doesn't apply to everyone, but pre-DR 3.0, Warrior Mages were pretty ubiquitous for their medium edged use. Moon Mages and Warrior Mages, from the magic side specifically, really split up what many of us imagine as your typical fantasy mage. So I know many of us really hone in on that side of it when we choose to play Warrior Mages. As such, we tend to push our mentals much more than our physicals, which makes wielding large and two-handed weapons much less effective than the lighter weapons.
<shrug> SE in SOI would be nice for me personally, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Ha! Sorry, I read the post before mine as more than a little selfish when it probably didn't read that way to others, and I just undammed the sarcasm. Well, actually I cordoned off some of it. My original reply was going to be that those traders shouldn't have any weapon other than brawling in their SoI and that every other weapon should be shifted one space to the right.

They were about 90% arbitrary, 10% targeted. I can't think off hand of any "signature WM weapon skills," so it probably all fell in that 90%.

The tailwind description, even all the way back in 2.0 and possibly before that, specifies bows and thrown weapons specifically, so that may have been what leaned it that way. Or at least away from crossbows/slings.
(Yes, I know the effect of the spell is more than just bows. That's not the point.)

With that in mind, when shield wasn't so important and warrior mages didn't usually train it, that makes sense. Thanks for the info.
So if it's between bows and thrown weapons (if change is possible), warrior mages lean more towards heavy weapon use in the current SOI list than light, which is the realm of moon mages.

Could we arbitrarily change from an SOI with Bows to an SOI with Crossbows, then? Or add Crossbows to it?
