Fortress of Ice 06/25/2015 05:12 PM CDT
So I was browsing through e-pedia and saw this line about fortress of ice, "All enemies at pole or melee range with the caster are brought into the fortress." and was really excited but then learned that FOI just has an out exit.

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on having people/enemies that are engaged with the caster have to pass some sort of check in order to leave the fortress. Since TM is easily messed up by breaking line of sight with leaving rooms I think this would be a great way to try to force a warmage's opponent to engage them and make traditional targeted spells more viable.

Well, when leaving the fortress it describes steps coming out of it to climb up and out. Without the mage's assistance...

It's an interesting idea, and a nice one blunt way to deal with the difficulties of stealthers running. Perhaps a meta-spell that alters the fortress (Prison of Ice?) so that anyone leaving that the mage doesn't grant permission to (via gesture or something) or isn't in the mage's group is faced with an Athletics vs TM check to attempt to climb out?

If that's considered too ripe for abuse then perhaps simply a nice long roundtime that comes with a debuff and leaves the person inside the fortress while they're climbing until the RT is over.

Meta spell, WM's TM vs target's evasion to leave and diffidently call it: >>Prison of Ice
