When you cast FOI does everything in the room get taken into the Fortress with you? For example, if I was hunting and left a bunch of boxes on the ground, do those get taken into the room too?

People grouped with you and things engaged at pole or melee with you come into the fortress. AFAIK, nothing else does. Later on, I'll double check this for you, since I have the spell. But I'm pretty sure no ground items come in.

I checked up on it. So, items that are flagged as "yours", such as recently dropped items and ammo, will actually come with you into the ice fortress. Basically, it looks like if other people try to pick it up and they get a message they can't, it comes with you. Other items on the ground do not seem to, not even recently dead creatures that you've killed.
