Electricity Magic 11/21/2015 01:45 PM CST

I am unable to find the opposing element for electricity. I know that Water and Earth compliment each other, and Fire and Air compliment each other. So Water and Fire are opposites and Earth and Air are opposites. So what about Electricity? Does it align with Aether spells?

I try to only cast spells that are complimentary to each other and with whatever element I'm aligned with, but I don't know the position of Electricity.

Thank you for any advice.

Aether and Electricity are in opposition.

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the elemental charge go only build on casting your aligned element? And the charge is only decreased by casting your opposition element (whatever it may be), and using summoning abilities?

So it doesn't mater what you're casting, there are no 'partner' elemental groupings, it's strictly opposition or not.

It felt like you were saying that you were casting elements 'friendly' to you your aligned element, when that's not really a thing in DR.

I don't think we can be certain whether any elements demonstrate any affection towards each other.

When casting spells, you only build charge when casting spells from the domain with which you are aligned. You only lose charge for those you are opposed to. The rest are neutral.

I often wonder why elements oppose each other. Water extinguishing fire is such a plane of abiding phenomenon. And I suppose any given pair of elements need not oppose each other necessarily. Unless, in the process of aligning opposition, we are breaking rules rather than cleverly applying them.

If I had to guess?

It's a construct our characters apply. Our characters are hacking into the alter-dimensions, which don't play by the same rules as the plan of abiding. So they create structure and order which might not otherwise exist. When they're advanced enough, they can change their own mental programming as to what would be 'opposite'.

It is implied in several places that the cosmology Warrior Mages are playing with is a lot more complicated than the simple model of six elements in opposed pairs. I think the explanation is "This stuff is a lot weirder than you imagine".

I would love this a lot.

Also Aether Lance coming back and doing armor damage, now that it can't be destroyed forever... or some other spell filling that roll.
