Bring back static discharge. It was our best defense against brawling.

Do you mean the non-damaging brawling moves that are now the Tactics skill?

Even then I'm still confused. How did SD help? I miss the nerve damage, mostly.

I'm guessing he is mad that he previously had melee range shotgun slash CL from like level 10 onward. So as long as you had a basic prep/cast refresh macro anyone trying to melee would get fried? But that's not brawling specific. I don't know.

I personally miss the hard Pyre spell, and SD being a mini CL for noobs, but understand why both were changed.

SD would help when someone had you grappled. Cast SD and they are fried. I didn't train brawling because in the past SD meant I didn't have to. CL will get you locked up in town (and killed by anyone else in that room). It's not a sensible defense against brawling because of this.

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but you can still do that with any TM spell, it just won't do nerve damage (I don't think anyone has a nerve damage ability anymore?), and it won't act as a mini-CL vs. everything attacking you. That's what I miss about it, was my level 10 babies first CL :(.

There's so few really cool trinkets and toys for noobs now, it feels like every class pretty much plays the same as every other class; get gear, get spells, just change the nouns and you can be a ranger/paladin/WM/cleric! Up to 50 or 100 anyway.

MB still does nerve damage...but they massively reduced the effect nerve damage has on everything. I can still cast with destroyed nerves, for example.
