When I learn Life, Holy etc magic it teaches me sorcery. Except when I listen to a class in Lunar magic. It gives me the message of learning, but all I get is a little bit of scholarship.

Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

I'm not positive which way it should go, but I should be learning something. If traders don't know magic is the rule then I should be learning Sorcery. If its, we want to give them a head start then I should be learning Lunar magic. I'm not sure which, but it should be one of the two.

I think technically you shouldn't be learning anything from any of those classes because Traders haven't been attuned to magic yet. You're NMUs.

I vaguely remember a post ~3.0 saying it was easier at the time to go ahead and set up Traders so they could listen to magic classes while work was being done on the magic skills split in anticipation of Trader Magic rather than waiting till later but I couldn't find the actual post.

The current plan is that Traders will be magic-optional and have to opt in to the magic system, so technically you probably shouldn't be treated like a MU out the gate.

To clarify, the only advantage to not opting into the magic system would be not having a magic req. Ignoring magic will not be a great idea, but currently we think we'll support it.

Like all things are are not yet released, this is not written in stone.

Any vague time frame on when Trader magic might drop? Is it going to have an associated event or just be a retcon kind of thing?

I'm not at a point where I can give you an ETA on Trader Magic, except to say that I intend to make it my primary focus starting in Q2 of next year (I have... another project going on in Q1). Whether it actually gets done in 2016 I can't promise, and depends mostly on how fast I can churn out spells and how many spells I feel need to be there to go live.

While I'm not sure about how elaborate the events around it will be, it won't be a retcon. It will be a new development for the guild ICly as well as mechanically.

Just a thought, this may have been addressed.. but why not give Traders access to Analagous Patterns now?
