I'd gone to the farmlands
Looking for a fight
Chop up some musk hogs
Scare goblins with my might
I'd corpsed there yesterday
And Rulitor, did that chafe
Training second and third weapons
This time I'd be damned safe
Carefully I murdered,
Killing this goblin and that
Keeping low my foes, and
Getting slaughtering down-pat
I was sweating under platemail
And the hogs were getting thick
Then suddenly a bewildered swarm!
Fleeing some magick'd --
I was surrounded!
I sadly prepared to die.
I swung my mace at goblins
And began to cry.
Yet lo, a rose grey horse!
A trader who'd passed before!
I assented to his help
He soaked his blade in gore.
He destroyed my monsters
While I could do naught but rest
While crates and pack mules waited
He fought like the best.
Then he mount'd his steed
As I fumbled for a tip.
"Take it all!" I pointed.
"For not letting life slip"
With the grace of a trader,
He'd cantered off on his rose horse,
Gone off to find his gold,
Before the last hog was corsp'd.
I stumbled back to town,
To give Gidske his due,
And wrote it all down,
To say "Thank you."
In other words, thanks, Gidske, for saving me from that swarm in gobbies. Even though I was an anonymous newbie stranger. I'm two-for-two in debt.
