Sword practicing verb 10/24/2008 07:46 PM CDT
I originally posted this in the wrong folder.

Currently we have the verb:

>Dance sword

We do the impressive display of agility thing.

How about an additional verb or tie it to that one for practicing swings.

(I used 'practice' for this example, but I'm not sure it can be used)

>practice sword

>Pleasance takes a few experimental swings of her sword.

Then expand on that by practicing a specific swing.

>practice sword draw
>practice sword thrust.

>Pleasance gives a few practice thrusts with her sword.

(for more fun, direct it at someone)
>practice sword thrust <person>/<object>

Sorry, I'm not very creative for the messaging, but you get the idea.

Could also use something to test the balance of the sword. Sort of like we do when we forge a weapon or make a longbow.

That'd be pretty cool. Maybe you could challenge people to practice matches, where you enter a mock battle. Winning blow would be determined on defense skills and whatnot.. then again, spars are funner for that kind of thing. Still. Might be fun for automated swordplay.

Actually, was just thinking of it being for fluff. An addition to 'dance sword'. But one idea sparking another is cool too.

I like this idea. Also, more impressive tricks could be added as your ranks in the weapon grow. Very useable verb IMO.
