I remember the MSN Gaming Zone and their free 30 day trials with play.net games. I did Gemstone first but I liked that i could see the exp of skills when playing Dragon Realms so I played it more. I was probably around 8-9 when I first started playing, copying my brother as I was want to do at the age. I rerolled like 10 times i'm sure, dieing and not remembering where i died and losing my stuff and get mad at it. Ah, I do remember the time spent stat rolling though. Thoroughly enjoyable, oddly enough. I think I went with the random name generator because thinking up names was hard... XD Strottlebury Roxenthorp, perhaps. Quality name right?
