Living with the monks was one of the most introspective weeks of my life. It was at an interesting time for me, I was 17.

I can't recommend it enough, this thread actually reminds me I had told myself to go back. I can not believe it has been 17 years since then, I think I'm going to look into it.

Its incredible to think about how even 17 years ago that week was so much less about unplugging (No smart phones/Ipads etc), it would be so different now. I can only imagine the experience would be even more powerful.

Having three boys of my own, I also am pretty thankful that my parents let their 17 year old go live with monks for a week. It was an odd request to say the least.

On one hand it's something I've always wanted to do. I sort of fantasize that I would've been very comfortable living as a contemplative monk if I'd been aware of that option earlier in my life.

On the other hand I kinda fear boredom. I'm so "plugged into" the world that cutting the cord for a week, let alone a lifetime, might seriously screw with my well trained spastic attention span.

I think this band formerly went by the name Spinal Tap. Sad, they're reduced to covering Duran Duran songs on a Christmas album. I want to hear their classics like Big Bottom, Hell Hole, Sex Farm, and Stonehenge :(

I have been religiously listening to the song "Wild Out" by Borgore, featuring Waka Flocka and Paige. I can't post the link to the official video because it is extremely NSFW, but I will tell you it involves kittens being attacked by pizza, a special appearance by Steve Aoki who apparently dies and is reborn, and a Skankin' Pickle. Powerman 5000 is the band that I would always find when I was trying to find Powermad and convinced myself they were called Powerman. I'd always think, 'Man, these guys have totally changed'. Finally figured out I've been wrong for like fifteen years.
