Question on Alterations to a Container 08/25/2014 03:04 PM CDT
Alright! I am working on an idea for a humidor. Or, more specifically, a cigar/tobacco/cigarillo/pipe/lighter case. My first thought was to alter an old spellbook case I have lying around... So I could have partitions for the various types of items.

So, here's my question - During the course of an alteration, can container restrictions (ie, the restriction on what can go in a certain partition) be changed/removed?

Generally, alteration merchants can't or won't change the item mechanics, just the appearance.

You also shouldn't assume they'll change the core noun. No harm in asking, but be prepared for a no.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect them to change.

I made the mistake of having a foraging apron altered into a forging apron. I didn't realize that a foraging apron only holds herbs. So now I have a cool forging apron that only holds herbs...

> tap apron
You tap a soot-stained leather forging apron with pockets reinforced by silversteel rivets that you are wearing.

> Look apron
Utilitarian in design, the apron is nonetheless finely crafted, with each seam double-stitched and reinforced with strands of steelsilk. Numerous large pouches and pockets line the exterior, strengthened in the corners by silversteel rivets that make the garment ideal for storing and sorting heavy forging tools and supplies. Covering the apron are scorch marks and small bits of metal that have become permanently affixed after splattering on the leather while in their molten state.

> look in apron
In the forging apron you see a packet of cebi roots (scars: external), etc.

You frown

Yes, it takes a mommy dwarf and a daddy dwarf and about 200 years.

If it lasts that long, you really should contact your family Empath.

Well, I assume a baby dwarf isn't going to pop out knowing how to forgebind, so I added in a couple hundred years for training.
