CM GMs absolutely don't need to code. Do I recommend they learn it? Yes, but it's not a requirement and there are a number of people who never learn even the basics of GSL (Our in house coding language for those who are unfamiliar with the name).
Dev GMs do, but no prior code experience is required. It can certainly be helpful, but we can teach you on the job. GSL is more sophsticated than stormfront scripting but less sophisticated than many Genie scripts.

>>I've been told by someone who was trying to tempt me, you don't actually need to code to be a GM. If you think you have something to offer, I'd say go for it.
I can't speak for how GM-explicit tools work, but ALAE tools aren't that difficult to work with. So if the tools to create basic critters, npcs, items, etc are similar to the ALAE tools (I have no idea how the GM tools look/function), you just need to learn some new commands and go from there. You won't necessarily be setting up systems like Kodius and the other super-devs, but basic game stuff might be pretty easy to get the hang of.
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

Areas are very similar to how ALAE works (From what I know of ALAE), you're basically using player friendly version of player tools.
Scripted items, critters, npcs (and some other stuff) all have basic templates but you're going to need some GSL to work on them.

Heh, not even a credit mention on Falk's list of old peoples. Sad. I was actually the first Ranger to 150th. But the game pretty much ended there for me. Most my friends were gone, and work was getting busier. So I quit for 4 years. Only to come back and see how far people had advanced in that time. But then, the exp system changed a bit too.
Anyways, congrats. I thought I was catching up on you.

Heh. Well, everyone is now able to catch up to me, since I've hit the wall. Although I dunno how you can catch me getting weighed down by all those Diras, lol.

No one wants to catch up to you Falker, then we would all be as bored as you. Twiddling our thumbs going, what to do, what to do.
