Re: 3.0 Spell Progression 03/31/2013 06:21 PM CDT
Hey,

Firstly, cheers to the new spell progression, I appreciate the logical changes.

My question pertains to a possible oversight in retuning the spells. Swarm is now a T3 spell, Hara's Bonds is now T2. And yet Swarm is easier to cast than Hara Bonds?

Assuming I correct about this, and we all agree that tier 2 spells should be easier to cast than Tier 3 in the same spellbook. Could we possible request some greater ease of low circle spell casting?

Please and thank you!

Elanthipedia shows them both as Advanced spells:

The links you posted still seemed linked to the old spell ladder:
http://elanthipedia.org/w/index.php/Category:Ranger_Spells
This shows HB as a Tier 4 spell.

On the other hand, the new 3.0 progression tree:

This suggest that HB moved from T4 to T2... \

Still very possible I'm not understanding this chart very well, but why move HB so far down the totem pole if we still can't use it till the top.

Tier means nothing in 3.0. The only judge of difficulty is Introductory/Basic/Advanced/Esoteric. Even then, Warrior Mages have an Advanced spell (VoI) that requires an Esoteric spell (AC), so I don't think this is necessarily a bug.

Thanks for the response.

Suppose I'm still a little confused why the new system appears to require younglings to learn an advanced spell that they can't use (HB) in order to learn a basic spell they hopefully can use (Swarm).

The progression seems cloudy

Epedia has both of those listed as Advanced, with two Basic Debilitation spells: Devolve and Grizzly Claws. I won't claim they're accurate, though, since I don't know a lot about Ranger magics.
