I've just made a small change to the wilderness bonus, which will reduce the loss by a decent amount if you've got your companion in the same room.
This is live in all instances.

Fun change! Can we please get a few more creatures added to the carve list? How about making meat last indefinitely if we perform the beseech on it?
I almost never pull out the wolf because I'm just convinced they run away at any provocation, but with a real tangible benefit I'd like to at least try having it around more.

Definitely a good step, giving companions some purpose and a step towards difficulties (and RP goals) with people managing the urban penalty. Are all companions created equal, meaning are wolves and raccoons on par, and companions of all ages?

Thaaaanks, any dev is good dev riiiight?
How does this compare to our ranger ritual spell MON ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/Memory_of_Nature ) which does in part
"Effect: Maintain your ranger bonus while in non-wilderness areas".
Rangers have the Transfer beseech ( https://elanthipedia.play.net/Beseech_Elanthia_to_Transfer ), which restores the ranger bonus to full.
Does the ranger bonus decay even slower when you have a companion present and MON up? Was this companion change geared towards rangers under 40th/90th circle? Is the dev team secretly trying to get rid of beseeches? We have solutions in place that help with the rate of bonus accrual.
I know some folks would say this companion dev time could have been allocated to what players 'want': wiped and updated Ranger Scrolls. Kalika/Tomma/Tolle/Marion could have some event where they channel the Refresh/Preserve/Petrify/Seal beseech on the current lists and task some current rangers with escorting the old lists somewhere (P5 Guildhall).

Transfer beseech is not available till circle 90. MON is not available till circle 40.
However, raccoons are possible at circle 13. So there is some time that a young Ranger will have a companion
alone as the one way to slow bonus loss.
It is a good question of the stacking of MON with a companion present

Nice addition. Is the system built in a way where my ranger would get a recovery bonus while using the companion outdoors?
Is it possible to add new compaions similar to the dragon talisman which retain this functionality without the constant need for maintenance? Maybe something like a wyvern whistle where you could blow it, and it would create a young wyvern companion. If you lose the companion then you just have to use the whistle to get it back. It wouldn't need feeding or petting, because it's a powerful beast. Bonus points if you could label the whistle to name the companion.

Would it at all be possible to turn off feeding/petting/growth on companions, just set all to full-grown until companions are rewrote, updated, or whatever future plans happen?

it's been 20 years, when will ranger companions truly be worked on?
