Like the difference between combat and dress/on-base gear? Subdued patches and silenced tags when out in the field, and bright patches/polished tags on base? So you have a 'dressy' amulet for normal use, but the stronger chain, and perhaps more sturdily and less flashily constructed one for 'working time'?

If thats what you mean, sounds like a good idea.
